As someone vocally on record saying Hall was an upgrade (based on him being an actual PG), Iâm a little concerned.
I didnât hear much of Halls name. So hard to tell with no box / no TV
First half notes:
44-41 at half.
Disconnected offensively most of half.
Chance with 1 defensive and 1 offensive rebound during his first rotation (stronger with ball than Dallin). He is scrappy. Shot not falling, but that will come as his stroke is pure. He may play more than Hall later in year just more talented.
GrĂźnloh very talented - will be our best big in years. Can score on post or wing. Moves well. Canât wait to see how he plays as year moves forward.
De Ritter - strong on block. Had one 3 - nice stroke.Cery much a full grown man on the floor.
Miles - wearing us out. Quicker, stronger and finishes well. Wish he would have stayed on board. He would help. Have seen nothing out of Hall that makes me believe at end of year we will be better off with Hall than Miles.
Our bigs much more effective than guard play in first half. Three point shooting has been poor.
I think the biggest concern with Hall was how heâd fair against really athletic guards. Thatâs Miles
Concerned about what? His play in one half of a scrimmage?? Haha
Anyone else at the game? Hella space so may as well try to watch together.
Just based on my ears, story of our first half seems to be GrĂźnloh and Chase
Was hoping weâd have some highlights put out but nothing yet
Iâm pretty sure he scored on at least one drive to the basket.
Think that was White
If I counted right
Thomas 10
De Ridder 9
GrĂźnloh 8
Mallory 4
Lewis 3
Onyenso 2
Gertrude 2
White 2
Carrere 1
Yeah, and not making any / many threes. But tough gym
Just a GrĂźnloh dunk from the UVA Menâs Hoops page but doesnât even show the full play
Biggest takeaway for me is it sounds like our bigs have been the strength of the team in this one, which is a massive surprise. Iâm not worried at all about our guard play so if our frontcourt is producing like this already I take that as a major positive.
Thoughts from Vandy mod
Quick first-half observations (with a half-time resolution that Iâm gonna watch more and stat-record less).
- Tanner and Nickel have a lot of latitude offensively. Nickel is going to take a high volume of shots and Tanner will be more of a factor offensively.
- It was a bit of a ragged first half offensively for Vanderbilt. The shots werenât always good and some of that had to do with Virginia defensively.
- Virginiaâs bigs gave Vanderbilt fits. Vandy tried to shore up its height issue but De Ridder and Grunhlow got too many easy baskets.
- Because of that, not sure Vanderbilt can afford to take McGlockton off the floor much right now.
- Malik Thomas is gonna be what Virginia hoped heâd be, I think.
- Overall, looks a bit like an October scrimmage so far though I think both teams have obvious talent.
To be fair, they may not even have high speed internet in that janky ass gym
Sounds like chance is struggling with the adjustment from the 9 foot rims they use at stab
Thomas - 10
Lewis -3
De Ridder - 8
GrĂźnloh - 9
Mallory - 4
Onyenso - 2
Tillis - 2
Gertrude - 2
Carrere - 1
According to Chris Lee the Vandy 247 mod.
Does stab still have the tinted backboards? Hated those (though I did have my career high in that gymâŚdo not ask me what it was).
3rd quarter starting now. Score has been reset.
