Yup! at ~3:55
Bad news: no games for 9 days
Good news: all the rest should be good, except for the one at Conte Forum. Not sure why we agreed to go to a low major gym in the dead of winter.
Not at all, here. His missing shots against Maryland had very little to do with Maryland. The competition in his previous league was consistently much better⦠and he also had 15 against Texas and 26 against Northwestern despite fouling out.
Heās the kind of player who, if heās off, will defer, though. Most of the time thatās the right call given our scoring options - but there will be a time where weāll need him to keep hunting his anyway.
Some of these questions in these post game pressers are just awful.
Elijah Hahahaha Gertrude!!!
The āyou just saw the beginningā quote is kinda interesting:
āHeās athletic,ā Odom said. āHe can shoot. He made some shots tonight, which was great. He was very poised with his ball-handling and took it when it was there, multiple times. He made really nice passes out there tonight. And so I think you saw the beginning of what could become a very confident and important player for us going forward. Not just now, but the future here. So Iām excited for Elijah.ā
Not sure exactly how thatās best interpreted.
Great game for Eli to find his confidence. Jacari is missed a ton but hopefully the positive is that Eli finds a role in the rotation this next couple weeks.
I will be rooting hard for Malik to find his game again. He was out there in the tunnel after everyone else had gone in signing autographs for the kids, lots of memories made. My son was one of the kids and it absolutely made his night.
Maybe this is an unfair assumption but I do think thereās a bit of an adjustment for him

being the clear #1 option offensively

playing against college coaching, which frankly Iād argue is objectively better than the coaching he faced internationally and even if thatās not true, I guarantee college coaches are better at scheming for minimizing the impact of a dominant player.
All that said, Thijs is one of the most talented players in the country. I think he will find a groove early in ACC play.
I think it is a message to EG that Odom wants him back next year and not to leave because he isnāt getting as much PT as he would like.
I had this thought yesterday. Are we not getting a ton of dunks this season? Feels like we had a lot more in past (comparably good) seasons but pace / shot balance/ etc might be warping my perspective. Any stats nerds have data to bear on this?
I definitely feel like our proportion of dunks to other shot attempts is below average.
Can sort here: Team Shooting Stats - Customizable College Basketball Tempo Free Stats - T-Rank
#60 this season. #37 last season (though the overall percentage of shot attempts is the same). #76 in 2023-24 (though the percentage was less).
2 observations from the game. Sam Lewisās shot is pure. Doesnāt hit rim on most of them. Just a splash through the net.
So happy for Elijah. Going 2 for 2 from deep was awesome and both shots were swishes; first one was from NBA range.
And the smile never left his face as he was interviewed post-game. Play free and with joy. Odom is getting these guys to play free and I love it.
Ask and ye shall receive!
Sorry, referring to how quickly you responded to the request for a dunker. Always prepared! ![]()

Jacari will most likely be out for several weeks, right? Wrist surgery isnāt something you heal in 1-2 weeks, right? What a bummer with tough games coming up
Non shooting hand so some are optimistic. People have speculated anywhere from 2-6 weeks.
4-6 weeks I am guessing. Didnāt Joe Harris have a similar injury - how long was he out?
Iāve got the UNC game 1/24 circled as a likely return. We have a week off prior. Gives him some time to assimilate back into the flow of things during practice.
I dont think Joe missed a game in his college career
