I think you are right. They are struggling badly on defense period, but their 3-pt. defense in particular is atrocious, which should bode well for us.
Word is that, as of now, the game will proceed, but the timing will be monitored closely. I say that to note I am concerned there wonât be much of a crowd, which is very unfortunate. Weâll see; I hope our homecourt advantage remains.
It wasnât that long ago they were 14-1.. If they take it to notre dame tonight that could be all the momentum the need. Long break didnât bode well against VT.. should be a cause for concern for everybody imo
MD crowd was putrid; JPJ will be rocking on Sat and give the guys momentum from the jump. The other was a rod game in a dimly lit barn. Odom has had two post-break slow starts to learn from already, Iâd hope heâs taking steps during this one to make sure his guys stay focused.
I donât think momentum will fix UNC. Their problems are systemic on defense, and that canât be fixed in a week. Their backcourt is awful, and their frontcourt is lost on defense; problem is, of course, Wilson and Veesaar are beasts on offense. Hopefully our size can mitigate their production somewhat.
I am also concerned about the break, but I think the guys needed some rest.
Wouldnât mind going jumbo with thijs-johann-Ugo for some of this game just to see. We may have a foul rate in the 80s but I would like to deny their big guys and see some more of that lineup in action.
De Ridder needs to take it right to Caleb early and often. Caleb is great but he is 19 and TDR is 23. Heâs an athlete but TDR is stronger. Beat him up and get him in foul trouble early. Utilize the home whistle.
We got a favorable whistle against Cal, at least equally bad both ways against Stanford. We only feel like weâre being targeted all around bc weâve played 4 ACC road games and only 2 at home.
Refs have been awful this year but above all else theyâve been letting crowds affect them. Our fans need to take advantage. Boo at the first no call. Loud.
Whatâs going to be our gameplan with respect to Wilson and Veesaar? So many teams double Wilson, but he is a good passer. I see a scenario where we try to get them in foul trouble, Making their guards try to beat us seems like the best path to a win. They arenât a good 3pt shooting team, and it is going to be very tough for them to come into our arena and go off on our defense. But, of course, the concern is always the frontcourt.
Just wondering what people who know this better than I do think.
