Ouch…the two points from Sanchez’s random tech prove costly.

Ron Sanchez cost us the game :boom:

I liked when we went zone for one possession, forced a turnover, and then never revisited it the rest of the game.

Overall it was a poor 35 minutes of basketball and then a solid 5 minutes down the stretch to fight back in the game. Happy that the guys didn’t give up but you can’t allow that many wide open 3’s and expect to win.

The zone was a fun unexpected wrinkle and producing a live ball TO was great.

Rohde playing on a bad leg, makes it an even better game by him

But I tip my hat to Taine for playing with high energy throughout his minutes

Man a game like this would rip my heart out. Im not even remotely upset. Beyond apathy, actually find myself encouraged by the effort Sharma and Robinson gave at times hoping the new staff keeps them as bench development pieces.

Onto the real game of the day of Utah St vs Nevada at 9:30.

Also Duke and UNC to see how Foster and Trimble look

late game gripes.

Why stay with Dai Dai over Sharma after he keeps getting beat on D. Made no sense. I was screaming to sub Blake out O for D, and damn if he didn’t get fouled on the FT miss. Good as a turnover. I won’t complain too much about the final shot, wasn’t terrible…was there a timeout left? If so, would rather see them get to halfcourt and try a set…the odds of Rohde full court finishing that aren’t good.

Also Mac shoulda gotten 3 shots, he was going up. Should have made all his FTS earlier too though, then it wouldn’t have mattered.

Is Ron really so unaware that he can’t get a tech that fires up the crowd at least?

We didn’t have a TO left on the last possession. Otherwise, agreed with your gripes.

Wish he had seen Taine for the dagger.

Damn, had that same thought live but didn’t realize how open he was.

New Mexico not Nevada, right? Pitino the Younger having a nice season so far.

Only thing Taine probably could’ve done to better position himself is maybe head to the basket. Only needing 2 I think change the geography of where he goes in transition.

Either way, Rohde had options. Sucks he didn’t hit but sucks even worse that they had chances well before this to narrow it down and they couldn’t do it until right at the gun.

First time all year where that one hurt. My hatred of Va Tech does not allow me to handle the loss graciously

Was there any scenario where we could have had Jefferson instead of Power?

Think he would have been in place of Saunders. And based on the timing of visits and what not, Jefferson was the first choice forward.

Jefferson had first shot. He turned us down.

This quote makes me think they’ve mostly packed it in and that he’s referring to next year - wherever they may be at that time.@jacquiefran.bsky.social on Bluesky

Ron must see the writing on the wall.

He contorted his body in the air because he can’t change hands — not ā€œamphibious,ā€ in the immortal words of Charles Shackleford — ratcheting up the difficulty of the shot.

I was mad about the FTs, but that evened out in the last minute with VPI missing two straight 1-and-1s and both ends of a two-shot foul in the last 25 seconds.
