The dose of shot selection optimism is that if we go with the story that the staff tweaked things after the Duke game (which I would say yes, both in terms of playing more Taine and running some slightly different actions), we were up to 42% of our shots from 3 in the games since then. Small sample size and our opponents in those games ranged from being moderately interested in preventing threes to permissive, but maybe it’s something?
Slight quibble - Taine has actually been doing a good job of trying and succeeding at 2s recently. Hopefully he can keep that up. It’s partially why I would like to see our starters Tuesday as Reece, Isaac, Ryan, Taine, and Minor. I like Groves more as the instant offense sub role.
Thanks for the stats. I’m too lazy to check, but I think 3 of those 4 mid range shots he made were from 3-5 feet on those pull-up drives. Assuming that’s right, 6-10 isn’t great, but it is well better than our norm at 1.2 ppp
Wow. Just saw it was 28% for the month prior (basically February), ranking us 344th. That change feels meaningful enough to me. Hope we can keep it rolling.
