Gertrude did get some time Saturday with Harris out. I don’t know about last week. Heard he was okay, doesn’t have a good feel for the team D yet though. That showed up.
My read of his comments re first years and redshirting: bliss a done deal; I felt like he equivocated a bit on ARob which was a surprise to me; gerty gets the talk but not the hard sell.

How was I hating? @AnonymooseHoo sue this man too while you’re suing yourself. But keep the bill under $50 ok?
You’re WFS - you always be hatin’
True. We can settle out of court if you take me to the president’s suite with you.
Actually trying to get (some) work done today. Did Tony really make Dunn a 3 because he wants to avoid the Boot Scooting Boogie frontcourt?

Beeks & Dunn. The Boot Scootin Boogie back court.
Even better
Hmmm- good question! I was prepared to say that Dunn playing the 3 would hurt Bond because I was ready for Dunn to only be playing at the 4 spot due to a lack of depth or talent in the post. However with the revelation of Groves and Buchanan really coming along and Minor being adequate, then if Dunn has to move down to the 3 spot then that affects everyone…
However if Bond’s interior game is better than Dunn’s than that could earn him back some minutes in the post.
Hey HGN, can you explain what you mean by “That showed up”? Are you saying that Gertrude being okay and his imperfect team D is what showed up during the game this past Saturday against Maryland or during the Uconn game?
I wasn’t there to say specifically what it means, just what somebody told me. My assumption is just being late in rotations, or not helping when he should or helping when he shouldn’t. Packline has slightly different principles from what players are trained to do coming up, have to develop new habits. And then all the rotations on scrambles that result from all the hedging and doubling they do, it’s different.
I attributed our peaking early last year to experience, but also because we went to Europe in the summer.
Both UMd and UCONN had foreign tours this summer. Playing competitively with 2 teams who were predicted to be good/very good, who have also had many more practices than our guys, with this new set of Hoos, is a great sign.
Awesome!
This is pretty typical of first years and new transfers though, isn’t it? It takes a while for players to get the packline, no matter what their individual defensive skills may be.
This is awesome. Someone needs to get this to the players. (And then they need to learn the boot scootin boogie)
Someone showing the players: “look what some old fart made on LRA.”
Players: “yeah, cool. Um, give me 5 minutes and I’ll make that a moving VR 8K hologram on my phone.”
If G&D do a country line dance after a big RD block or Groves 3, then I guarantee that some of that “nobody talks about Virginia” stuff goes away.
