Hoos won 4-1 at Liberty last night.

The first year pitchers acquitted themselves well again with RHP Cullen McKay getting the start and striking out a career high 6 in a career high 3 IP.

The first years (McKay, Bradley Hodges, Kevin Jaxel, Evan Blanco) combined for 6 IP, 1 run, 5 hits, 1 walk, and 10 strikeouts.

20th ranked Miami visits this weekend for a Fri-Sun series. They’ll be a nice challenge.

I see on Twitter that Parker is scheduled to pitch Saturday. That is really good news!!

Jey @KarlHess i saw Wolfolk throwing with the QBs for spring ball. Is he still planning to split time this spring? Seemed like he was getting some traction as a bullpen guy.

Not Karl, but yes, he’s been pitching and I believe well. Only practices football when he can and I believe he’s limited to 40 football throws a week. I’m still skeptical of this arrangement, but it seems to be working so far

Huh interesting. I was kinda expecting him to focus in baseball. Not sure the half in approach works for football when you’realready buried on the depth chart.

No one has come out and said it, but it certainly sounds like Muskett is going to be the starter. Been a lot of positive (puff?) pieces about him and the offense lately

Yup he certainly went into the spring as the No.1 and it seems like he’s solidified that position so far. Not being able to out duel BA even when he was flat out bad last season was not a good sign.

Yeah, they’re letting Woolfolk compete for the job but everyone outside the football program that follows football expects Mustkett to be QB1.

Hopefully there’s a role for Jay in the offense as a QB though.

Oak and Elliott have a plan worked out for Jay that flexes depending on the baseball schedule each week. If it’s a day he needs to throw in baseball, he still does football if there’s practice but just doesn’t throw the ball that day.

He was a lot more baseball heavy during the weeks last spring when there was overlap because BA was the guy.

The spring football game is April 15, so he’ll be back to fulltime baseball after that.

Personally, I think his control has suffered a bit since spring football practice has started. Maybe I’m imagining it, but that’s the vibe I have.

Hoos sweep Miami.

Of note…

Gelof currently leads the country in RBI.

He’s also tied EJ Anderson at 37 for the UVA career all time HR lead.

Hoos have the nation’s longest home winning streak at 21.

Hoos have the lead in the ACC Coastal division at 11-4. Overall record is now 28-4.

Pitching looked fabulous today and Friday. It scuffled a bit yesterday at times but they got big outs when needed.

Gelof gotta be a pro no?

I’ve seen him as both a late first round or top three round pick in the draft this year.

Kyle Teel is going to go top fifteen, maybe top ten, picks in the draft.

I was happy to see Jay close out game 2. The look on his face after that last K!

@KarlHess The best part of Gelof’s second HR was the reaction of the catcher. Hahaha!

I feel like I’m the only person that didn’t notice his reaction.

I know he kinda of looks over to the dugout like “WTF?”… but I’m wondering what really happened there. Wouldn’t have been the pitcher locating the pitch in the wrong area because he would’ve looked at the pitcher if that was the case…

Maybe he disagreed with the pitch that the dugout called for there?
