Wonder if either or both will be tempted. If so, another guy to my team the Red Sox and another team that I have started watching due to Abbott (and that rookie De La Cruz - power hitting shortstop who stole 2nd, 3rd and home the other night - in a 2 pitch span).

Note: since I’ve gotten on this De La Cruz theme, I saw that the Reds were 27-33 when he was brought up from the minors, and have gone 23-7 since. Of course, also is about the same time Abbott was brought up. Anyway, he has superstar written all over him.

Abbott still mowing em down?

He got beat up a bit in his last start, for the first time. His first 4 starts were excellent.

Get on the Reds bandwagon! As a lifelong fane (Big Red Machine!) - I lived through a lot of down years and never thought they’d be relevant again. Trying to forget Marge Schmitt - thought they won one World Series during her ownership. This team is young - hits up and down the lineup. If their starting pitching gets healthy- watch out!

Same here @zblakey. Grew up with the Big Red Machine. Been a long time since 90. Admittedly I had almost given up on my Reds, but this group is sure fun!

My first big leauge game was in Chicago. Reds vs Cubs. I was 5 years old with my dad. Pete Rose was diving head first everywhere and I loved Dave Concepcion for some reason.

I left the game telling my dad ā€œI like Cincinnatiā€

Did such a great job of forgetting Marge Schott that he forgot her last name.

Though her dogs, always named Schottzie, did schmitt on the field a lot.

Lol. I’d like to blame it on autocorrect - which it was. Never forget Schottzie - her dog!

Someone tried to warn me but I was out to dinner: ā€œFigured better to DM so you could edit if you want before someone calls it out, but that troll’s name is Schott.

Now I get it…my phone just corrected it to Schmitt too. :joy:ā€

Technology- great - as long as it works.
Could have been worse and corrected it to ā€œKon is a silent verbalā€

I hated watching NL East games back then as everyone but the Mets and Cubs played on the carpet. To make matters worse, my little league took us to Veterans Stadium in Philly every year—even though Yankee Stadium was equidistant. Not that I’m still bitter 47 years later.

Those Big Red Machine teams were the ones the rest of us loved to hate. Of course, as I lifelong Yankees fan, kinda living in a glass house on that score. But they were truly great. Lots of big names, but favorite player from that era was Joe Morgan. Loved the way he played the game.

I still hate Chris Sabo and Billy Hatcher.
