Yup, I know. Hence the past tense.

I have missed the past month of news. Do we have basically an entire new roster? That is what it seems like.

Also still in play, Jarin Stevenson (class of 2024) as a possible 2023 reclass.

And possibly Bliss as a 2023 reclass.

I remember Jacob Groves from the 2021 tourney when he and his brother were raining 3s for Eastern Washington against Kansas. His stats for Oklahoma are not great.

His assist, rebounding, blocks, steals, and foul drawing rates don’t look good. He’s a good shooter though, and we are desperately thin at the 4/5, so if he is willing to come play 15 minutes a game, make an effort on D, and not block Buchanan from getting 5-15 minutes a game, I’d take him. Seems like a downgrade from Shed, Papi, and BVP though.

Oh, wait, was Groves the lumberjack guy?

I just can’t believe there isn’t one springy 6’9 guy out there who would come play backup 4/5 for us.

They don’t need to be a shooter, just a springy guy with a high motor. Hell justin McKoy would do the trick all said and done

His older bro was the lumberjack; he was more Napoleon Dynamite

Just really don’t think this is our savior

AHHHH, ok, thank you. Wow, G/F, eh? That doesn’t seem ideal for our needs.

The lumberjack guy was a baller. I’m surprised his along-for-the-ride little bro has developed as well as he has, but my expectations at the time were sort of zero-ish.

Ignore the “G/F” designation, everyone thinks they’re a guard because they hit a few 3’s in pickup ball one time. He’s 6’9 and played almost exclusively at the 4-spot for Oklahoma.

The positive case is depth + Evan Nolte 4th year defense + better shooting Evan Nolte 4th year + can be paired with good rebounding guards plus Dunn or Minor.

The negative case is huge defensive liability + shooting numbers tick slightly down + Rohde/Bond/Murray don’t end up rebounding especially well.

Someone said that the Fla people felt good about Cain after his visit but maybe everyone feels that way after someone visits.

Never felt like UGA was the real threat, moreso us, UF, and maybe PSU given Rhoads’ success with guards at VCU.

PSU looks like the biggest threat at this stage, given who Florida already picked up.
