nope, no one in the country or on the planet will.
The 3 is definitely up for grabs. Taine and Bond have no claim on that position.
Which is why Stevenson makes so much sense.
Weâve got enough good players on the roster that he doesnât necessarily need to come in and put the team on his shoulders as a FR, but weâre not so loaded that heâd get lost in the shuffle. Heâd play a lot even if we got Minor & Rohde.
Itâs not so âup for grabsâ that itâs an easy sell to a transfer who can actually help. Furthermore, you have to also ask, if he isnât a graduate transfer, does the staff prefer spending effort on him or on those theyâve targeted in the 2024 class? Among other things, no one on next yearâs squad will exhaust their eligibility.
Sounds like we already have atleast *one new post in hand?
I mean, we donât know that rn. We donât know what is happening with Rohde or Cain. If you get one of those two then youâve gotten a quality 3.
Winning all those close games where most, if not all, of the breaks go your way is most certainly a fluke.
That 19-20 team fought hard and pulled out some good wins and had some momentum going into postseason, but even if the NCAAT didnât get cancelled, teams that struggle that much on offense usually donât advance too far.
Yep. In his interview, Big Papi mentioned a couple times how âgetting his numbers upâ was crucial to his future in professional hoops. Have a season with bigger numbers would help his chances of getting a better European contract. He LOVED Charlottesville and hoped to come back one day, but it wasnât going to happen here.
He needs to learn how to catch a pass under the basket. That would help get his numbers up.
Well if you only get one turn at bat per game how many times will you hit a single, not to mention a home run.
This could be in reference to any big weâve had in the past 10 years lol. With that being said, many of our guys need to be better at that. Also though I think sometimes our guards have put the bigs in tough positions. Guards making super tight/hard passes and the bigs struggle with it. Looks like the bigs fault but itâs probs on the guards too.
Jack Salt is an example. He wasnât great at catching really hard passesâŚâŚ so at that point it needs to be sort of on the guards to know, âhey I shouldnât chuck this pass 100mph at Jacks feet.â
Didnât know Iâd write so much about a completely obscure topic but here we are lol.
apparently he didnât practice well.
Semi lost art is guards being really good at entry passes. Big dudes give you a target for a reason
Absolutely. I donât think our bigs have been good at catching entry passes by any means, but I think sometimes the guards make it tough on them.
I proly just notice non perfect passes more is all
Our guards the last 4 years have been pitiful in post entry skills.
That drive and dump off pass at the feetâŚ
What youâll hear during the season is a little bit of me dying inside every time we pull that off and the ball is inevitably tipped/batted/kicked out of bounds by our big.
Happened a lot more times then I care to remember
The late great dean smith use to talk all the time about being able to catch the ball and finish in traffic and at the same time he talked about being precise with the entry pass. Went to his camp one time and the amount of fundamental work was crazy, I hated the morning sessions because I felt like I knew how to throw a proper chest pass, bounce pass, how to pivot with the ball etc. Evening sessions were fun, games played.
Fresh, I learned how to get position, set a target with hand opposite the defender, and demand the damn ball when I was in 9th grade. My coach is in the SC Hall of Fame so I was lucky in that but this is not some deep secret. And our guards learned how to look off the defender and time the feed to make it catchable and controllable. Frustrates me that we seem to only complete the most basic of entry passes and generally after the defender has maneuvered to a better position. Just not our emphasis or offense I guess.
Absolutely. Growing up the best coaches make every player work on guard and bigs fundamentals. As a guard fake high pass low and vice versa. If you practice what the big is doing you know as a guard the best ways to get it to them
@CavTex I went to his camp 2 or 3 times. Played with and against some real players and agree the games were awesome at night but fundamental sessions non negotiable. For guys like me was worth all of it. Loved pick up in the afternoon at Granville Towers too
