That was my other as well
Interesting. I would put mine as:
Reece 100%
Isaac 98%
Ryan 98%
Rohde 70% (combo of shooting, size, and ball handling puts him above Dante and Leon. But if he falters, one of them could easily step in)
Minor 60% (I think Blake probably starts by year end, and Groves could start also)
Reece starts at PG. Does Harris start? I voted Yes, because Bennett seems to favor undersized guards who are not particularly good shooters. Harris starting would not be my personal preference but prediction (for Tarleton anyway).
This may have been posted already- but by far the highest preseason praise Iāve seen to date for Reece.
Goodman has Reece as a lottery pick? I would love to see it but thatās not going to happen
Itās a fantasy draft
I agree with your assessments on Rohde and Minor ā I was ranking strictly on who starts against Tarleton State. My thinking is, if this consensus starting lineup is wrong, itās because Dante, Leon, or Taine is starting⦠in which case itās Mac or Rohde that would be coming off the bench (and maybe getting more minutes than the starter all the same)
Maybe itās like ROTO fantasy baseball leagues where you need a balance of all the stats? Reece will be pretty high in both steals an assists
Reece Bliss and Dunn (and Justin Taylor) working out with Damin (from a few weeks ago)
Justin Taylor got pretty jacked
Heh, I was just thinking, poor Justin Taylor getting swallowed up by Reece and RD. Direct link (hopefully):
Imagine a world where we actually sign a potential All American that wanted to come to UVA?
Methinks the last 2 years look a lot different with Holmes.
2 time All conference, 2 time all defense, A-10 Tournament MVP.
Passing on Holmes was wildly stupid at the time and itās only gotten stupider
Say something nice about our program challenge.
I think this board would be really insightful and fun if it just consisted of āCTB is greatā and āI really enjoy watching Beekmanā
Yes
Norfolk does provide a different perspective. Iām definitely on the overly optimistic / trust in CTB side as are many others and Iāve come to appreciate having folks to balance that out like Norfolk and WFS. We all want the same thing at the end of the day
I have a serious answer to this ā @norfolk_hoo and I tend to switch places with folks over the summer and point out that Tony is correct to try to pursue really good talent because really good talent tends to help us win, and that when it comes to opportunity costs: (a) how big are they, really?, and (b) wouldnāt Tony be much better placed than us to know the tradeoffs?
But for reasons that escape me, that doesnāt get coded as being āpositiveā about the program, even though itās really the exact same thing that gets us negative nellies in ātroubleā when it comes to other program aspects.
For me, itās just logical. Tonyās in-season / in-game decisions are right there for us all to see and dissect and discuss. His recruiting decisions are a little more opaque and I tend to be a bit more deferential (yes, I know this particular thing was about DaRon Holmes, but I think the general point stands)
I dont think Holmes was that big of a miss. Ryan Dunn and Kadin (at the time) are probably both higher ceiling players.
Holmes plays on a mid major team that has never made the tournament. He didnāt transfer up out of fear of not having the same stats. Has been solid but also didnāt go last year because he wasnāt really getting any NBA draft hype. He also doesnāt have that advanced an offensive skill set. I actually went back and rewatched his clips and highlights and I really wasnāt that impressed.
My take is that we probably should have gone for Maliq Brown in hindsight instead of Traudt but of course thatās in hindsight.
Yeah Iād rather have Dunn and Kadin this year than Holmes
Iād definitely rather have Dunn, Traudt, Kadin than Holmes
But instead we have Dunn, Minor and Groves which looks less appealing
