There’s an energy around the program right now that feels like Tony is reinvigorated to get another natty. Bliss referenced winning a national championship in his commit interview and I don’t remember that type of quote from other commits. I think we’re going to have another 2014-2019 run again
There is so much young athletic talent on this team i dont where to start. By mid january this team could be in beast mode. Bliss coming in to direct the troops in 24. Get either Kon or Hodge to add to the arsenal and it is checkmate
Haven’t been this excited for a season to start in quite some time. Rohde Harris Bond Gertrude Buchanan Minor and Groves will all play their first career minutes for UVA. Throw in the second year bump of McKneely and Dunn, and the REECE factor (finally his show to run), and I think we’re going to be in for some epic moments
Definitely in for some epic moments. Just imagine this, and bear with me:
We’re playing Duke, tied game, going down to the wire. BUT THEN - Reece hits Elijah with a crazy alley oop. Duke tries to hurry back down, gets it to Filipowski on the block, he turns to shoot and gets packed by Dunn right into Reece’s hands. He runs it up the floor and finds Issac for a big time three in the corner. Scheyer doesn’t call time out: rookie mistake, and when Duke tries to break, Dunn picks the pass off and takes it in for the tomahawk jam. Finally, Scheyer takes his time out, but it’s too late. Tony glances over and mouths “you got a lot to learn son”. All of LRA goes nuts and we start to believe we’re making it out of the first round of the NCAAT this year. BOOK IT.
We runnin and gunnin now!
Paging @WFS_HOO to provide a counter to this reckless optimism
Non-injured Reece > Reece running the show.
Both are big but people underrating that hammy injury last year. Pre Michigan Reece was nasty.
This is a good point.
Doubt there’s any way he would have come back if he had played at the Vegas tournament and Michigan level all year.
So nonsensical it’s not even worth my time
I am bored, so I noticed something weird:
Why does Torvik’s projections for next year have RD as playing fewer minutes and being less impactful on all counting stats categories from last year?
Like this projection is just wacky:
Torvik hates RD. I suspect it’s because his usage was so low and he’s not a rated recruit using Torvik’s rating.
the 2.9 BPM tho
It is interesting because Groves, who Torvik projects to play a TON, has never put up a 2.9 BPM.
A&M added a new player for this season, UMass transfer Wildens Leveque who was buried on the bench as a freshman at South Carolina when they beat us at JPJ in December 2019. Mostly just veteran bench depth for the Aggies at the 5-spot behind Marble. 19.6 mpg, 5.5 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 43.1% FG% last season for the Minutemen.
can we talk about Buzz’ 3-piece suit!?
Jacket off by the first TV TO. Vest off by the second. Tie loosened and top button undone by the third. Tie off for the second half.
When he starts to unbutton the shirt, I tune out.
Love it. J Willy is getting others involved in his shtick. What is the sound of one hand clapping?
Random thing I noticed: when looking at top 20 point guards in Reece’s class on 24/7 (I don’t want vacay to be over), by my count 13-15 transferred at least once, and the 20 include one and done Cunningham and a guy who went to a pro development league out of high school. So of the 18 people around long enough to transfer, only 3-5 didn’t (Reece, Roach, 1 or 2 Creighton foreign guys). Many were pushed out or recruited over. This is how rare it is to have a talent like Reece, someone you want around, stay and play his entire college career for one team. Could not be more excited to see him at full strength this year!
