UVA got 1st and 2nd in the 400 IM prelims so looking good in tonight’s final in that event.

Hoos are in a strong position to 3-peat. The meet ends tomorrow.

Very strong prelims for UVA. We’ll add another national championship trophy to the collection tonight.

Amazing, tough-as-nails performances. Closed out by smashing their own American record in the 400 Free Relay.

Kate Douglass cements her place as the GOAT in college swimming, setting 3 more American records and winning the 200 Breast today. You’ll likely see her swimming and winning that in the 2024 Olympics.

Gretchen Walsh sets a new American record in the 100 Back and nearly does the same in winning the 100 Free. Alex Walsh fell just short in the 200 Fly after winning the 400IM, but as usual was a star, along with many clutch swims.

Do we have any young stars coming in or on the roster waiting to step up once the GOATS graduate?

Kihei will be anchoring the relays next year.

I was wondering how he’d use his last 4 years of eligibility.

We do! Including the #2 and #3 recruits in the nation. Leah Hayes (#2) has a 400IM time that would qualify for the NCAA A final as a high school senior. This ride may last for a while.

They aren’t until 2024.

Best recruits coming in next year are HS and club teammates from New York — Tess Howley (fly, middle free) and Cavan Gormsen (middle and distance free).

They are top 5 recruits in their class.

Incoming classes at Texas and Florida are loaded, if their star recruits — Sims and Gemmell — don’t take a gap year to train for the Olympics.

Douglass will be the major loss. Ella Nelson almost admitted she wants to come back for a 5th year in her interview today. Lexi Cuomo.

Aside from Douglass (huge of course), if Nelson comes back, they should be just as solid - or even better overall.

Florida really loaded up for 2023, you’re right. Stanford had the huge class that were freshmen this year.

Small class for 2023 but one of them is the #2 recruit in the nation. To go with last year’s class and also some key transfers like Maxine Parker. No replacing a Douglass but the future is very bright and they should contend again next year. Aimee Canny is going to be a star. As a freshman she led off the 800 free relay and was only .06 behind world champion and Olympic medalist Torri Huske.

As a side note I thought it was interesting how much Emma Weyant fell off after transferring to Florida. Whatever DeSorbo is doing is working wonders.
