Players like Blue Cain are a dime a dozen. If you want to win, you have to do a lot better than Blue Cain. We have better guards now than Blue Cain.

You arenā€™t going to develop a player like Blue Cain a lot more than he already is. There isnā€™t a whole hell of a lot of difference between soph I-Mac & Jr. I-Mac. Heā€™s not going to be a much different player if he comes back next year either. If you want to talk development, talk Sharma & Gertrude. Those are underclassman that are going to be markedly better over time.

Donā€™t let the man bun give you Kyle Guy vibes. I assure you Blue Cain will never be that guy. (no pun intended)

Doesnā€™t have the man bun anymore. We donā€™t know who blue Cain will be as an upper class man and McKneely is bad example. Every player is different, and does different things in different environments.

There is a hell of a lot of difference between Sauners last year and this year, Rohde last year and this year, etc. etc.

Blue Cain is an underclassman and was a first team EYBL scholastic guy. Different caliber of player than Sharma. Numerous 15+ point games both this year and last year as a freshman in a much tougher SEC.

Blue Cain has been playing 25 to 30 minutes per game in college since he left Knox Catholic. Thatā€™s 2 years of meaningful playing time at the P5 level for a guard that has been around the game all his life with the ball in his hand. Heā€™s most likely not going to morph into something he isnā€™t. I donā€™t like his frame and build & thatā€™s not going to drastically change.

When I said he was ass, that was total hyperbole. Iā€™m not really knocking the kid. Heā€™s a decent player and heā€™s certainly serviceable. But if you want to really win at this level, you have to do better than Blue Cain.

Motion for a ā€œNo Holds Barred @Hooandtrue vs @HoopinHoosā€ thread, would be AWESOME.

Can I get a second?

And I donā€™t think I presented a situation where we would build around him. Moreso him coming off the bench with 3 years left to develop.

He has started every game at UGA this year. Why would he leave to be a bench player?

Also, Heā€™s kinda already developed. 9 to 10 ppg and 33% from 3 is what he is at this level.

I said the same thing about Rohde after last year.

Heā€™s developed a ton as a junior.

Just sayin.

A sophomore isnā€™t already fully developed. And the portal is full of kids leaving for better situations even if it means a reduced role to what they are used to (Louisville for example is full of guys taking bench roles after being starters. Koren Johnson, etc.c etc.)

Braeden Smith was one of the best pgs in the portal last spring and he chose to redshirt at Gonzaga this year for his future.

Devon Halls numbers were pretty not great after 2 years. All about if the player is willing to put in the work to get to where they need to beā€¦

Blue Cain isnā€™t a PG. Heā€™s a SG, average athlete with a thin frame.

Bookmark it. I promise Blue Cain isnā€™t a Mark Sears or Chaz Lanier. Iā€™d take a Ty Pence before Blue Cain.

Didnā€™t you throw out the name Cam Corhen a few days ago? Where exactly does he fit in? Because if you need a non-athletic, soft big with bricks for hands, Cam is your guy.

Bonds looks like a tailor made Shaka player to me.

Well lets put it to a poll, cause this is where we are on February 5th 2025 on the UVA basketball forums.

On average, do players get better over time

What ever happened to Trent Perry? We were really jazzed about the possibility of getting him last yearā€¦ any chance he portals (or follows Cronin to UVA when heā€™s our next HC lol)

He was homesick. Doubt he leaves the west coast

He went to a place that was already stacked at guard, and surprise surprise has seen his PT shrink in conference play against better teams.

Just like everyone, UVA and UCLA fans included, predicted when he committed there.

Donā€™t think UVA was equipped to provide the level of pampering the Perryā€™s had come to expect. NIL is one thing, their wants another

Found tape of Kaleb Glenn at FAU.

Man heā€™s killing it there. Shooting 40% from 3 on 3.5 attempts too. They use him as a hybrid 3/4 in some jumbo lineups.

Things I remember about Kaleb Glenn

  1. He was like apparently super polite when @HoozGotNext reached out to him
  2. He absolutely dominated Xavier Booker in a HS game in every aspect (probably the warning signs for Xavier Booker)
  3. Tony went to go watch him in an open gym while making his Reed Sheppard rounds and then he proceeded to commity to Louisville like the following week.

If he wants back at the Power 5 level and back close to home we might be the best bet (PTSD from his Louisville stay, no to Kentucky)

Was coming to UVa just worried about who would be the coach. Now the coach he chose lambasts him and teammates for being soft and complains about traveling around the country to play other teams, just like other teams do

Tony told him a funny story
