🔄 2024-2025 Transfer Portal Wishlist

I need the official H&T list because I feel like we’ve got enough guys to field a conference now :joy:

This kid is going to be a hot commodity. A better more athletic younger version of the Ben Humdiggitydog who is doing so so at Illinois

I want/need to retain iMac, Gertrude, Sharma, Buchanan and ARob (although this is a luxury - he’s not an upper level power 5 center). Rohde can stay with a pay cut and a 6/7th man role. I can find another Saunders but he is welcome to stay. Give me a real PG and a slashing wing and I can go 22-9 no matter who is the coach.

Pay iMac whatever it takes to keep him for this 4th year - do not let him go without a huge fight. UVA owes him that much.

It would be cool to keep iMac around but kinda think we’d have to pay above market rate. He knows a new coach would love that continuity and would win him fans.

iMac would be a great 3rd scorer on a top 25 team his final year, but need to have the right pieces around to balance out some of his deficiencies. A lot would have to fall into place for it to work out, I imagine.

Throw the $ at him - money be damned. 4 years at UVa is worth a bunch down the line with him on board for continuity.

And btw, whoever is the new coach needs to keep Kyle on staff - he’s a winner and the players listen. At some point he’ll have to get on staff elsewhere, but not next year. KG is still the MAN (apologies to Ty who is welcome back any time, but continuity is very important for the Virginia brand).

David Punch with a really nice game today, 19 pts, 3-3 from 3 and a few blocks.

Pretty sure he has family in Virginia or something that mentioned when he was asked why he had both UVA and VCU in his top 4 along with TCU and I think Penn State.

Would be really cool if he ended up in the portal and at UVA.

Going to be honest most of the front court portal options are pretty underwhelming otherwise and our best bet is to try and retain as much of Saunders Cofie Buchanan Robinson as we can.

Also has showed his athleticism a few times this year. Reminds me a lot of a mix of Larry Nance Jr and Anthony Gill. Bruiser 4/small ball 5

I honestly wouldn’t be mad if the new coach held onto 60-70% of the team and filled some gaps in the portal - PG who can shoot, rim protector, proper defensive wing.

It’d be fascinating to watch some of these dudes play in a new system. And if next year doesn’t work well, they’d just transfer at that point.

Dai Dai > Mallory
Taine > Isaiah Coleman
Blake > a big who can board and block

Keep the rest

I’ve been thinking about it this way: there isn’t a single player on the team whose loss would greatly upset me. Also, there are only a few that I really don’t want back, but even with those guys I’d probably be fine with retaining them. Next year is going to suck again, but it would probably suck less if we could field an entire team, so sure, hopefully we can retain some guys.

Cam Corhen is soft as hell. Hard pass on Cam.

He is a good fit for my “let’s become Houston East” plan. Cofie better overall, IMO, but if we can’t retain him this is a kind of player I’d like.

Also, that TCU team has Vasean Allette on it, who knew? His stats look horrible.

Cofie at the 5. Punch at the 4.

Yeah that would be a fun one.

I generally agree with your take that retaining our frontcourt players would probably work out better than trying to skim what should be a thin frontcourt pool (because it’s always thinner than the guard pool). It would be very nice to get a solid, experienced guard to anchor around (cue the obligatory Chucky Hepburn mention).

@Hooandtrue Executive Order 3.45: All players associated with the current Pitt Program will hereby be removed from future iterations of the portal wishlist, effective immediately.

Bryce Lindsay is having a nice season at JMU. Looks like he got a medical redshirt(?) for last year at Texas A&M and is listed as a freshman.

Will add to the list.

He’s probably going to end up back at Northwestern or Depaul anyway but should Jaden Schutt be added to the portal list?

I was REALLY high on him out of HS but he has an injury history and we have Sharma. Would have 3 years left.

I’d love to bring Bond back and I figure you put him on the list because he had a hard time deciding to leave since he liked it here so much, but if he comes back, what’s he coming back to? A new coach and all new staff since he left? Maybe 1 or 2 players he ever played with? And him coming off a major injury?

Lol. Blue Cain is ass.

He’s also an underclassmen.

In basketball what typically happens is that players improve over time. Especially if they find the right development opportunity or new environment that can help them do that.

He’ll also have 3 years left if and when the NCAA passes the 5th year rule. He’s had some really good games over the last two years and there is a base to build on there.
