Wasn’t Andrew Slater’s last tweet before going to the NBA making fun of Bishop Boswell and how he would be in the portal after a year? Such a random stray towards a random recruit

Awkward: Rick Barnes says Cam Carr 'just walked out' on Tennessee

Rick Barnes said he had no discussions with Cam Carr before the sophomore wing left the Tennessee Basketballprogram on Monday. He didn’t know why he left, either.

ā€œI have no idea,ā€ Barnes said Monday night, after an 82-64 win over Middle Tennessee State at Food City Center. ā€œHe just walked out.ā€

Sounds like a locker room glue guy

Wasnt there concerns of his sister doing the same?

We could use a wing after winter break though

McKneely is going to get paid heavily + the trauma of the last 3 years at UVA = gonzo

I’m nowhere near as familiar with the top mid Major prospects who are from North Carolina and Virginia (@EmbracePaceUVA or others, even you lurkers out there, probably know more regarding local talent looking to return closer to home or step up a level)

And get Chance Mallory back in the fold.

It’s not the prettiest shot, but it worked

Wonder what Tony thinks when he sees a video like this

  1. Man, he has improved
  2. That’s pretty weak competition
  3. I never told him to leave
  4. Boy, I missed that one by a mile

We’ve played worse opponents than Motana over the years and no one scored 37. That’s my take away. That and Leon Bond was the chosen one who will return to the Holy Land.

I think he picked the right level and comp. I’m just not sure he was big enough for our level. Dude is a bucket regardless.

He’s also only a redshirt sophomore this year and is showing more wing skills now. And the jumper looks less two-motiony/hitchy

Rewatching and he still is a little too reliant on this fadeaway stuff. I’d like to see him get a bit more aggressive going to the rack. Right now, he’s scoring on open dunks at the rim. He had at least one though, around 30 seconds where he didn’t back down from contact.

There’s definitely been progression, you can see the path to being a productive power conference wing more clearly now. But it does seem like he’s limited to 1-2 dribbles unless the lane is open, like when he’s attacking a close out. Hitting some top of the key 3s off of a little movement is pretty nice, as is getting run outs after he creates a turnover (though not much in the way of stocks for him so far there).

Isaiah Johnson-Arigu from Miami in the portal. Vandross was scouting him some.

Hasn’t played much so is probably a candidate for a retroactive redshirt if the 30% of games = redshirt rule goes into effect. Also if the ā€œplayers get 5 yearsā€ rule goes into effect, essentially has 5 years left… our sport is dead

Patiently waiting for Austin Swartz to pop in the portal. He’s only shooting 24% from 3, but I bet that bounces back some. He was starting over Bethea for a little chunk of the season.

Yeah I have a hard time believing the kid is a 24% 3pt shooter once he actually gets established in a rhythm and going.

All of Miami’s young guys are interesting. In addition to Swartz, they have Djobet as a rangy forward who might be able to develop an outside shot (based on his FT percentage), Ugochukwu as a rim pressure guard (with a shaky shooting touch). Now, they all might be horrible on defense, but I think you make the bet that if you put them on a normal team that expects to try on defense, they might improve?

Bump. Giles is having an outstanding season at UNCG. 16.6 ppg 47% FG, 45% 3pt, 3.1 A/TO. Whoever the coach is next year should consider him, especially if we don’t have Chance. We should have pursued Giles this offseason.
