Honestly, Mallory should just commit to UVA anyway who cares who the coach is. If he doesn’t like him, he can just decide not to play for the year and still get paid before he goes elsewhere.

That would be a remarkable upset.
Would our AD tell Chance who our coach was prior to it being publicly released? I think not. Therefore, we would need to believe that Chance would commit to UVA without knowing who our next coach is. I feel like that is 100% not happening.
In his interviews, he’s said “I like to play fast and play for a coach that gives his players a lot of freedom to make plays and make decisions.”
I believe it to be Vandy because we know Byington has been recruiting him hard, he’s having a great year, he likes to call all his players Point Guards, he’s in the best conference, and it just feels like it makes more sense than playing for Tech (he’s a UVA fan!), Maryland, or Tennessee, who may also lose their HC shortly. But I have no inside gossip…

Shaka Smart’s Texas team lost their first round game Thursday or Friday and he was named Marquette coach the following Friday. He probably accepted the job Tuesday or Wednesday.
In this timeline, Mallory announces on Saturday after the coach is named and the portal opens Monday.

His announcement is set for the Saturday the second round starts though
I.e,. Literally just a few days before we likely name a coach
“Before we name” publicly.
All the candidates have been in touch with Mallory….that much we know.
