Yeah I’ve always liked Mike as a comp for Cofie. Mike is probably a better shooter, especially from midrange. Makes no sense why he didn’t take more threes. He could’ve been an all American in todays game.

So are we all looking at the Bahamas trip as 1 win = success? Will have to beat a ranked team to do that. I can live with 2 losses provided we don’t have a Wisconsin at FT meyers situation and actually look competitive

The scale:

  • 2 losses - par. Try not to get blown out.
  • 1 win v St John’s - success
  • 1 win v Tennessee or Baylor - huge success
  • 2 wins - someone call a meeting of the Dean and Markel families because it’s time to hire Ron

At this early point guarantee you if they just Dean and Markeled Ron now it would be a huge boost to the team

Rotations rotations rotations

You don’t want to Markel someone too early. Could mean a big letdown.

Yea but I said Dean AND Merkel. Dean, thats where they get ya

Has there been a Dean and Markel poster officially named? Lots of candidates.

Sounds like fresh is getting a case of premature Markels. Can be very dangerous

I’m hearing that the Dean family is ready to go with Ron but the Markel family is all in on Will Wade. Much drama

I personally think if the Hoos have 1 loss or less after the Bethune game, Ron should go ahead and get the contract. Not a full exam break this year… was that a Tony thing? But a full week off would be a good time to evaluate and gives them positive assurances heading into the meat of the schedule. Anything less than that and I think you wait until after season to decide.

But I stand by if Ron gets the job they write as program friendly a contract as possible. I’m thinking this year +3, roughly 3 million a year and make the buyout essentially nothing after the 25-26 season just in case.

Saunders grade so far - I’m giving him a ā€œhe’s lucky we are mostly looking elsewhere, tbhā€ and maybe a ā€œbut he passes the eye test for nowā€ if I’m a nice grader.

Also throwing in a ā€œare we good on defense? Does anyone know? Is Saunders good on defense, and he’s one of the reasons we are good on defense?ā€

Feel like that’s a fair grade.

Are you and @DFresh11 getting a cut of the Ron contract and have an EoY goal to hit here? End of the season. We will talk then. :joy:

Like, we just beat a team that’s in full on self-sabotage mode. Let’s keep it together here! I mean, it’s good! It better than losing to that team.

No I just think there’s a lot invested in this roster to not try and make it work. And I feel like a 9-1 start with atleast 2 wins over ranked teams is about as good as anyone could ask for. Would be far exceeding expectations, right?

I don’t think a Ron hire will be on W/L record. Unless there’s an extreme in either direction.

Will come down to continuity - is the team responding and does it look like he’ll retain them. And to some degree is there a better, can’t-miss candidate.

Seems to be trending in more-than-likely the job is his. Will see how people feel once we start dropping games.

What’s the rush? Is Ron gonna ink a contract with a blue blood if we don’t lock him down?

Are we gonna have to suck at recruiting for a season? Yes, absolutely. Blame the Tides Inn.

Yes. Finally you get it

Sucking at recruiting for this cycle is a sunk cost. If that’s the disagreement (whether it is sunk or not), then I prefer my side of that argument ( that it is, and that’s fine)

I’m sorry but this line is entirely overblown. Eric Dixon could’ve left Nova and went literally anywhere in the country. Neptune is in 3rd year and has gone 17-17, 18-16, 2 NIT first round L’s. But he didn’t. Does that sound like a program in ā€œself-sabotageā€ when a top 10 player in the entire country chooses to stay?

To the specific game last night… they pressed the crap out of us. Do players trying to sabotage their own season play that hard and give that effort in pressuring defense? Like yeah, Villanova isn’t what they used to be. No one is claiming they are. But to act like they just rolled over to us is way off. Had they rolled over, we would’ve won that game by 30+. End rant.
