Rays ended up being the trade partner with the Phillies.
Great landing spot for Vasil given the Rays rep for pitching development.
He should open at AAA Durham where Kyle Whitten will likely be a teammate.

A’s also selected Noah Murdock (804!) in the Rule 5 draft.
He has to stay with the big club all season or else be offered back to the Mets.
Anyone able to quickly explain this rule 5 thing?
TLDR if you’re not on a 40 man roster by a certain period of service time, you’re eligible to be picked in the rule 5 draft. If a club picks you in the rule 5 draft they have to keep you on the MLB 26 man roster for the entirety of the season, otherwise you go back to your original team. There’s also waivers that you have to pass through and what not but that’s a little more complicated.
In order for a club to pick someone in that draft they have to have an open spot on their 40 man roster.
Felt like a great time to get this thread to the top of the forum. Baseball should be like CWS champs level good this spring.
If you haven’t followed the program this would be an excellent time to start. I don’t know if you’ll find a coach more about his sport and his program than Oak.
We are L-L-LOOOOADED. Gonna be a huge year
So much pressure on these guys but I think they’ll be ready for it. Unfinished business from the past 2 years.
Long tweet but the TLDR takeaway is Ford will be playing RF this season.
Couple updates on the baseball front. First, the good news…
Hoos are coming out ranked #3 on PG’s preseason rankings. Highest ranked non-SEC team, very big praise.
Now for the bad news, apparently first year LHP William Kirk is having knee surgery and will be out for the 2025 campaign. Those who read through my way too long winded fall ball updates know I was very high on him based on what I saw, and he was expected to have a role this season either as a starter or a bullpen arm. It’s a tough loss especially given how highly touted he is coming out of HS, but not a loss we can’t overcome.
How did the Baylor school kid do?
Tough news for the young man as well!
You mean Valincius? He’s been as advertised so far, has an outside chance of being our Sunday starter. More than likely gonna be a key lefty bullpen arm though IMO.
Thank you!!
@UVApride7 how did didawick look? I can’t remember your report on him but eager to see if he’s still spiking balls in the outfield lmao.
So I must’ve saw him on all the wrong days, because outside of a loud out to right and a double to LCF he didn’t do too much of note from what I personally saw. He also did spike a throw from LF to 3rd lol.
But apparently on the days I didn’t go in person he raked and was one of our most productive hitters. Will say he was chasing less pitches low and outside from what I saw, which is a good sign.
Good to hear! Appreciate the work you put in!’
Does anyone know where O’Connor and Hodges are in their recoveries? Could potentially have an embarrassment of riches on the mound…
Sounds like a @KarlHess or @UVApride7 question!
Better than good chance neither are back this year. If so, the last I heard is that it would be late in the season.
That’s the expected recovery path for TJ surgery for Hodges.
Seems a bit long on O’Connor but he had a freak injury and it ended up requiring surgery which was the worst case scenario.
If we get anything out of them, it will be a bonus.
LHP/OF Tommy Roldan is expected to be out for the year again too. He was a highly rated recruit in last season’s first year class but missed the season to torn ACL recovery. He was back playing summer ball in Cville and tore his ACL again.
