If you had a team that was seen as capable of doing that next season and only needed a starting PG, you’d almost have your choice of anybody in the portal.

Forgot to mention important point for me: he’s a 1 year guy. Would feel totally different about a 2- or 3-year guy (coincidently, like Mack). I just don’t see next seasons squad being top 20. So let the young guys who came in highly ranked play, and maybe it works out. All for a 1 year rental if it’s a steady vet presence who also can mentor. But not a meh D1 guy who’s gonna wind up starting and blocking young guys

We’ve only had 4 starting PGs in the last decade though lol 2 out of 3 played in the league and the 4th just finished his college career. He’s probably about to make it 3 out of 4! Not saying we are the greatest PG factory of all time but it’s certainly not something that can credibly be used against UVA in recruiting

Also regardless of what Malcolm played here our staff is absolutely selling him as a PG on the trail. Non-die hard UVA fans don’t remember he didn’t play much point here lol

People are being a bit ridiculous expecting Jefferson news. I also wasn’t a fan of bringing in Mack, so not really hurt by all that.

Still have a bone to pick that we didn’t go all in on Brown. Preferred him over Jefferson. Taking ourselves out of it also removes a fallback for staff even if they didn’t have him as 1A.

I thought we did? Maybe misinterpreting things shared on VIP thread though.

Though that was unlikely?

Dependent on Jefferson addition. I think it makes more sense if we miss out there

Regardless

IMO, Virginia’s offensive system hasn’t been the problem. It’s been the execution. When players made shots, UVa has won. When they aren’t making shots, it’s looked very, very ugly. And, there were games when no one could even finish a bunny layup. Additionally, there has been little in the way of an offensive threat in the post lately. Hopefully, Buchanan can become that sort of scorer. Regardless, when players have open shots, they have to make them. There isn’t an offensive scheme in existence which can compensate for poor shooting. Virginia needs at least two more threats beside McKneely. If Buchanan and Murray continue to improve, that will go a long way to solving matters. I think Gertrude needs to develop a ā€œgo toā€ move in which he has confidence. Bliss and Sharma are unknowns, for the moment, and I have no idea whether Rohde can improve his game. I don’t think Harris will be a viable option. And, all this leads me to the conclusion that a real power forward with a legitimate low post game should be a higher priority than a point guard. But, hey, that’ just me.

Latest intel indicates we are not prioritizing him. And it’s very unlikely that Brown is interested.

Can wonder if he was ever in the mix for us, but sounds like we also haven’t done much to give him reason.
