Yeah he’s a solid player but anyone spending that much on him is insane. He benefitted quite a bit from being the only competent big on VT’s roster this past year.
Not weighing in on the accuracy of that info, but NIL payments do seem to be a convenient boogeyman for fanbases to explain why they lost a guy.

Arvin is wrong a lot and seems to try to create excuses for their current staff. Though I’m sure VT basketball NIL situation is fairly bleak.

Let me add… I do not think Arvin is correct at all. I just think he’s trying to deflect from the fact that VT is willingly sacrificing all of their sports programs for football or maybe he is not.
But their football NIL is heavily funded. They think their path to the SEC lies in football.

No redshirts. So youuuuuuuuu redshirt this kid. He is 20lbs of muscle away from being a really damn good player.
I think I mentioned it before but HGN said Getter and quite a few other power 5 teams gave this kid a look out of HS (he was producing good in aau) but he was too skinny and projects weren’t the fad as the portal era had truly begun.
But we are rebuilding our roster.

In like just the last hour a shit ton of really really good mid Major kids hit the portal.
That freshman from UW Milwaukee. Saint Thomas, etc. etc.
Early Rumblings of Ajayi to Gonzaga which makes a lot of sense.
