So yeahâŚthe money can only be stretched so farâŚbut what 60 percent of the kids in the portal wonât be landing anywhereâŚgoing from the bench to the dormitory couch
Oh Yeah itâs big time now. There was smoke for a while Vandy was going to go all in. The âmore money than Godâ comment which someone else pointed out doesnât make sense LOL.
I think there was concern of them being a doormat/being kicked out of the SEC in future realignment so they are taking sports seriously. Hence why they renegotiated and paid out Jerry Stackhouseâs $20 million + buyout/their big big time donors are now engaged.
Meanwhile we run Taine and Rohde at the three. Itâs okay though not doom and gloom⌠just acceptance.
Dear Trent â West Coast PGs thrive under Tony
Why would you compare a hypothetical future Vandy team to a previous Virginia lineup?
Cause Taine and Rohde will still be here and play a lot unless we add a few more wings/guards.
There is no reason we shouldnât be able to do this if Vandy is. THAT is the frustration.
UVA just wonât play the âupfrontâ game whatever that means. Which I dont know the difference or what kind of morality is involved. The kids are still making money.
All these numbers are made up but Vandy is doing this out of survival to not get relegated out of the P2, which will happen at some point once the dust settles on additions.
Trent Perry, Bliss, Gertrude is literally a championship backcourt in 2 years.
Pitch him hard how we need 3 ball handlers and he will play A LOT for us.
Do we know Vandy is doing it upfront of just structuring/ promoting it different/better?
Crazy something this egregious can happen for a team still in the tournament:

Amazing coaching staffs are able to do two things at once.
Oh idk. More or less making a dig at UVA athletics. Also, I feel like 7 million would put Vanderbilt at like number 1 in the NIL ranking or close to it. Iâm not buying that number
Iâm sure itâs a long shot but we could really use Justin Anderson type recruiting win with Perry. Just give Perry the keys to the kingdom.
Gonzaga pays well, yes?
Since about 1999 yes
Yeah, there are like 54 guys on staff now. Only so many hours you can break down film
Heâs not a great 3-point shooter but I like Tony Perkins from Iowa as a grad transfer PG for us. Big, strong, physical kid who gets in the paint and scores at the rim. Also gets to the line a ton. Good distributor, rebounder, and defender as well, and heâs done it at the highest level for four years.
I understand wanting shooting but we are (and have been) sorely lacking guys who can just go get you 2 points late in the shot clock. Perkins is that kind of guy and someone who would be ready Day 1 defensively.
Tony Perkins (not to be confused with upenn tyler perkins) is asking schools for $300k
Or . . . You get Trent Perry
