Enfield left USC to take the SMU job so people are thinking it’s likely that Perry decommits.
We’re not gonna get him even if he does but it would do a lot to bring the hope back up.

The number of threes Kaleb Glenn attempts per 100 possessions:
Nice. That’s quite the list to to have expressed interest so far. Perkins is from Indianapolis - maybe we can get Kyle Guy to make some calls.
I just feel like if you need a grad transfer PG to come in and be the man for a year, you better be looking for a guy who doesn’t need to adjust to the step up in competition.
Anyway, given that list, probably a long shot, but at least we’re casting a wide net.
Thanks.
We aren’t getting Tony Perkins. Indiana rumored favorite
Main thing that concerns me with Perkins (outside of the poor three point shooting) is that he scores a good amount of his points in transition and in the mid range. One of those things we refuse to do, and the other we do wayyyyyy too much.
We could certainly do worse than Perkins but I also think there’s far better fits for what we want/need in our starting PG. But who knows, maybe if a new offense does come that’s not as dependent on having plus shooters at the 1-3, he would end up being a solid option.
Also yeah like abridge mentioned he’s getting smoke to IU already.
Glenn is already in the portal.
In fact 9 UL players!
I have the ability to materialize tweets now. One step closer to commits
You just need to materialize the commitment tweet - loophole
That he’s getting smoke to Indiana shouldn’t come as a huge surprise given that he’s an Indianapolis native. And maybe he’s fine with putting his final year of college eligibility into Mike Woodson’s hands. If that’s the case, best of luck to him because he’s going to need it.
As far as what he brings as a player, I don’t disagree with any of what you’ve said. But I like his size and physicality. He gets to the rim and he gets to the line, and he’s a solid defender. But the experience of playing in big-time Big Ten games for 4 years means far more to me than what some guy from Podunk State shot from 3 this past season, especially when it comes to a grad transfer with one year to play.
Had to bring up UVA lol. We made a top 4 wooooooo (I’m okay with another pg target though)
But he’s a career 31.7% three point shooter. I know you acknowledged that above, but one thing we desperately need at PG is shooting. Sure he’s played in the BIG and is used to a high level of competition… but he’s shot poorly against that high level of competition for four years.
I know he’s a solid player with value, I just don’t get the fit for what we need right now. Would put so much pressure on our other positions to produce from three.
Edit: I see your counter argument re shooting above, think we just see it slightly differently. I wouldn’t have even contacted him if I were running UVA, but we shall see.
Josh Jefferson from St. Mary’s just entered the portal woah.
That was unexpected/he was important for them. Does that mean St. Mary’s is about to blow up?
He was out with Injury since mid February. But a solid piece for their future. (MAN THESE YOUTUBERS ARE FAST lol)
Can he play 4?
Sounds like a certain someone playing for an orange school in the north east.
I don’t disagree that we need better shooting. But we also need guys who can just go get 2 points late in the shot clock. We also need more physicality and athleticism at pretty much every position across the board. Frankly, we need a whole hell of a lot. Our projected roster has deficiencies everywhere.
But above all else, what I don’t think we need at the most important position on the floor in my estimation is a one-year rental who needs several months to adjust to the improved level of competition, if they can adjust at all, which is a crapshoot.
If you want to take a PG with shiny mid-major stats who has a couple of years to play, I can get on board with that. But for a one-year guy being handed the keys, I think high-major experience and productivity matters.
He’s a four with lack of 3P shooting, but he has a pretty effective power wing kind of game. Though a curious lack of FTs for a guy who looks to attack the basket.
All totally fair. And very much agree on the strength and athleticism points. I think I personally am just so tired of the lacking shooting from the PG position and think having shooting at that spot opens up so much for our offense in particular that I prioritize it more than many may.
I think we could build an ok squad featuring somebody like him, I just worry it’d be more of a grind-it-out painful slog once again. I know there’d be a transition for a PG coming from a lower conference, but I guess it worries me a little less than players in other positions. Tony has played true freshman PGs with great success in many past years for example - it seems like a position where experience in our system is actually the least essential.
But who knows - as you said, we have a ton of needs.
Mylyjael Poteat has also entered the portal leaving VT with 7 open scholarships. The vibes in that locker room must be abysmal.
