Don’t let anyone tell you that conference alignment doesn’t matter outside of football.
Tv revenue (coaching hires) and nil(transfers) have catapulted the sec ahead of the acc in basketball.
And the other sports will follow.
If you care about basketball, or baseball, or soccer, or swimming, or tennis, or……
Then you better hope for uva to sec or big, or something more dramatic that levels the playing field (eg collective bargaining with the big 4 all on the same level).

There are also really good former mid-major players doing really well all over the place in Power 5 conferences. It’s just a matter of finding the right ones who fit with what you do.

Not in the portal but Davidson’s leading scorer, David Skogman, would be an interesting target if we need a veteran big. 6’10 235, not a plus athlete but a career 40% 3pt shooter (at Davidson and Buffalo). From Wisconsin so there’s that connection. Could be a Groves replacement as well as someone that can play the 5.

Lol we probably aren’t going to go after the 1 million 13ppg 6’ to 6’4 midmajors. They rarely hit/ You put Bliss Gertrude or McKneely in their league and they are scoring 20 ppg.
Our best guard transfers have been power 5 kids we have had a connection with or past relationship with.

Reminder that while transfer season does happen fast, most of the actual recruiting activity is still a month away. The post final 4 dead period lifts April 12, that’s when things get hopping a bit.
