šŸ€ 2024 Basketball Transfer Portal - Portal Kombat! Fight!

I wouldn’t touch this kid with a 10 foot pole the unless it was a depth piece for some shooting off the bench. Unfortunately for the Hokies this is probably their starting 4 because they have nothing on the roster, but he’s going to get absolutely abused defensively even more than Nickel was.

They do have a highly rated 4 coming in. Ryan Jones

Do their commits start bailing at some point?

If this works, I think that means every Ivy player who overlapped with 2020-21 would have a shot at an extra year on top of being a grad transfer.

Though I found this random Twitter reply persuasive that even with the NCAA getting paddled in every court case, they would be right to deny the waivers here:

So to be precise, the ā€œCOVID yearā€ is actually 2020-21, which doesn’t count against your eligibility no matter whether your team played or not. I had been thinking of the 5th year as an extra year of eligibility, which isn’t quite right by the NCAA’s definition.

Biased Mike is correct IMO. The whole thrust of the extra year was to get players and teams to play that year. Would undercut the entire rationale to allow it.

On the other hand, it’s the NCAA. Who knows WTF they’ll do

Of course it’s Sticky Ricky who’s being the fly in the ointment too. I thought he decided his team (who he completely recruited after turning over all the old coach’s dudes) wasn’t athletic or tough enough?

They should be athletic enough once they’re age 25+

It’s not about what the NCAA will do. It’s about what the courts will do.

Yeah it’s probably inevitable that student athletes will get 5 years of playing eligibility

Short of eliminating all eligibility rules, I’m not sure what the courts could/would do… I guess I’m saying I don’t see a principle that is short of saying that any enrolled student gets to participate. And by the way, I don’t rule that out!

Titus used to say this all the time. If you want to stay enrolled as a student and the school will have you, grad school, law school, whatever, then why not have unlimited eligibility? Although that argument maybe gets more complicated in the NIL era.

If the day comes when college athletes have infinite eligibility, I’m out. This covid year crap has been nightmare enough.

Will you please let me be the one to crash the system when you go though?

Here’s one that could maybe be of interest. No production to really speak of but was highly regarded out of HS/someone we recruited fairly heavily at one point.

These dudes just gotta learn to be more continuous and they won’t have to worry about entering a shitty portal.

Freddie Dilione is a good Hunter Sallis Candidate for Wake Forest. One of those guys (like Young Peja and Gavin Griffiths) where their freshman stats were meh to negligible but you can just tell they will be decent if not really good in the future.

The vibe/chatter I’m getting from Vols fan reactions is Dilione didn’t play much defense under Barnes, so not sure if that’d fly with Bennett. Definitely super talented though.

Yeah probably another Forbes reclamation project at WF.

Also would imagine Louisville and NC State will be on him as well
