I bought into the Dillone hype and then I watched him in a full game.

Talented sure. But man he played that game like it was an all-star exhibition. No defense and so so careless on offense.

Maybe he finds a spark after being benched collegiatly and I eat my words but I don’t think he has it.

It’s okay this is all just an omega power up.

Rohde is going to channel my hate and become Ty Jerome. Dante is going to take all this negative energy and channel it into a game where he hits an open 3 and has a +5 box score.

You know what, if we can’t recruit a point guard for whatever reason, we should change gears. It’s not like we don’t have plenty of other issues as well. Use our (likely) two openings on a 4 and a shooter/scorer at the 3 instead.

Sure, we could use a point guard, but we can probably do it a bit by committee. Trotting out Rohde and Murray for 40 minutes at the 3, however, absolutely is going to fail.

I’d be open to that. Maybe aim for 1) a 3/4 guy who can shoot (Amos) 2) a true power forward (Brown). And run Bliss at point a lot.

You may be on to something. If we could get Brown and Amos and roll with the guards we have (assuming Bliss would be the primary PG with support from our cast of other options) we could take a step forward and may just get Bliss further along for 25-26.

Sorry, I’m out on the plan. That would mean far too many meaningful Dante minutes and reliance on Bliss to play massive minutes at the most important position on the court. By our level of outreach, it’s clear Tony agrees. I’m convinced we can find a really solid veteran mid major PG receptive to a starting role and a big NIL payout.

I’ll get killed for this but …

If you tell Dante to be a pure facilitator and don’t shoot, he’s fine for 10-15 mins per game. It’s not great, but it’s fine. It’s Jontel Evans with slightly worse defense.

To be clear, it should NOT be the first second or third choice, but it’s a ok bandaid if needed. And if the tradeoff is you decline a marginally better PG in the portal but gain to possible studs at the 3/4 … i wouldn’t hate it
