Can someone remind me of the secret scrimmage schedule?
Next two weekends. VCU at home then Georgetown on the road.
Nice, thanks. Warley gonna put the clamps on Mack
Prove em wrong szn
We have one double digit scorer on the roster (two if you count Rohdeās freshman season at St. Thomas), no inbound transfers who were anything beyond role players at their last school, and little veteran presence with only two fourth years and n o fifth years. Coming off the worst coached offense in a high major conference. On paper, yeah, a lot to prove.
Add: Four non-conference games early against KP Top 30 teams, good showings in those (while not underperforming against the KP-300+ cupcakes) will be important.
Agree. Canāt remember the last time we were ranked this low in preseason
I think it might be more accurate to say āthe worst executed offense in a high major conferenceā. I thought last yearās issues were with performance and not design. Where the staff did fall a bit short was replacing all the premature attrition from the previous spring. And, yet, Virginia still finished third in the conference and won 23 games. There have been times when such would have been cause for joy.
This is spot on.
Thank goodness for the renewed emphasis there this offseason and, hopefully, Ryan Dunn will be a wake up call for them as well.
Your distinction here is meaningless. CTB selected and coached the players who executed the offense
In the transfer age, arenāt pre-season Kenpom rankings kind of pointless?
Yeah I donāt know how you can draw much from them. Ours is a particularly egregious example, but Villanova where theyāre at and a few others also look pretty silly.
And they won far more game than they lost. Regardless, my distinction is hardly meaningless. Itās just a reality of the current state of intercollegiate basketball that roster stability can be an ephemeral quality. Given last yearās personnel, it could be said that Coach Bennett did a remarkable job.
-Checks forum to get some insight on upcoming basketball season to see same debate raging that I left in March. Immediately exits stage right, give me some football talk. Maybe even a swimming convo.
Does Dixon play as more of a 4 or more of a 5? Feels like that will be a great early test for our post defense in the post-Minor/Dunn era.
As Neil said, itās all one song (I like this quote and say it a lot).
For me, the current spin on the evergreen debate is that whatever me, you, LRA, and anyone else thinks of the debate, Tony decided to change some things up, at least in the offseason. So if any of you post natty - pre-2024 offseason/preseason Tony dead enders want to keep arguing for the ancien regime, thatās fine. Me and my fellow future-focused optimists who love current Tony** will keep our eyes on the future and keep arguing for new Tony and against old Tony.
** subject to constant review. Stay tuned.
I think we should be able to beat Villanova. I like that matchup if we can find a way to slow down Dixon.
I think @Hooandtrue pointed out that in their scrimmage, Dixon was playing as a 4 next to their transfer 5 (Boakye?)
Guessing this based on seeing him a little last year and previous years, but maybe he takes 5s outside and shoots, and takes smaller 4s to the block? Guessing 18 FTs might mean the latter.
He wants to be a 4. Probably better suited as a mismatch 5
