Emma is currently ranked #11 in the world. Bound to bust into Top 10 with her performance at the U.S. Open. With Danielle retiring, itâs like the Wahoo torch has been passed to the next generation in womenâs tennis.
What a remarkable comeback victory for Emma! When she fell behind 5-1, I was hoping sheâd rally to win the third set. Never imagined that there wouldnât be a third set.
I turned it on down 2-1. Then went 5-1 so turned off. Turned back on she up 6-5. Wow
Up to #8 in the world in live ranking.
What a comeback!
She would become really really tough to beat if she can develop her serve to get more free and easy pointsâŚ.already tremendous though.
Iâm also still trying to figure out how to get easy points on my serve after 4 years of playingâŚ. Feels like tennis is 2 parts⌠serving and everything else.
Nice article on Navarro and how UVA was a big part of her development journey.

Semis are gonna be tough. Sabalenka just absolutely trucked a top-10 player in Zheng (#4 in Elo on Tennis Abstract) to set up a matchup with Navarro.
She will have to work hard to keep the ball in play and hope the opponent has a bunch of errors. Winners vs winners will be a losing battle.
Dave where you been man? Good to see you around again!
lol⌠work, coaching, tennis and OlympicsâŚ.boring Hoo basketball period âŚ![]()

Great run by Emma!!! Just needed to get it to a 3rd set!!!
Really nice tournament for her. Agree that the serve is the next frontier for her. Sabalenka won 65% of her service points, Emma only won 57%, and only 25% of her second serve points.
Hilariously today I played a singles match and got destroyed on my 2nd serve
Navarro wins $1 million for making the semis, which is life-changing money. Not for her, obviously, but for most people it would be.
Yeah⌠super pumped she made it to the semi-finals⌠but she probably has $1M in her tennis bag crinkled up next to her dirty sweatbands.
Incoming first year
Is he coming? Think he was part of the recruiting class that included Joao Fonseca of Brazil who won the 2023 US Open Juniors, but elected to go pro earlier this year.
Jodar is not listed on the UVA tennis roster. Helluva run for him last week though.
