49-31 FSU at the half, so they outscored us only 23-22 in the 2Q. Still, the main open question is if we can prevent them from putting up 100 in our house.
Nice minutes by Grays though.

FINAL: FSU 101, UVA 68
We actually had âheld themâ to 91 with about 3 minutes left and I thought they wouldnât break 100, but 10 points in the next ~90 seconds settled that question.
Couple winnable games coming up, starting with VT at home, noon on Sunday.
Coach Mox has been such a disappointment. I had high hopes when she started and even going into this season but man . . .
I am starting to hope the admin puts some pressure on Mox once the Reddit money comes in. Itâs time to actually look better on the floor.
I think people have forgotten the state of the program when Thompson was fired. We were below basement level. We had nothing, no players, no culture, no hope.
How long do people think that takes to turn around? The ACC is still a very tough conference for womenâs basketball, much tougher than for menâs. Her best players are still sophomores and freshmen and even if theyâre upperclassmen theyâre still in their first or second year in the program.
I was hoping weâd be on track to be around a bubble team this year, maybe falling short, but weâre not there yet and thatâs fine. Quality of play in conference has been markedly better than earlier in the season. Iâm seeing improvement in the team and players. Theyâre still working hard and trying. Maybe next year is the breakthrough.
Next year is definitely a make or break year for Mox, could really say this offseason is a make or break with the money sheâs been given. Sheâs gotta get some players in here to complement Mo, that poor girl is so talented and asked to do so goddamn much for this team every game.
Weâve got two years left of her, have to take advantage and surround her with some pieces while we still can. Hurd and McGhee are solid but not enough.
I think some of the fan negativity re Mox is caused by the fact she did so well in Year 1. Sheâs actually in a strong spot for Year 3 after Tina⌠but she did so well in Year 1 that it looks like a flat trajectory. If Year 1 had been ugly, people would now be cheering where we are.
This year, without the injuries, weâre a bubble team. But the top teams in WBB are still head and shoulders above the bubble teams. Itâs a tough climb.
Yeah, gap between the ranked teams and everyone else is HUGE in womenâs hoops and people forget that under Tina we had a 16-game losing streak and possibly even worse, we forfeited games that had nothing to do with Covid. It was the shit-showy-est of all shit-shows.
That having been said, if the team doesnât make the NCAAâs next year, Iâm going to start getting concerned. Its still a young squad and thin up front this year, and theyâll lose quite a bit up front next year. But it wonât be a young team anymore and itâll 100% be Coach Moxâs team.
Yeah, Mox needs to go all-out on bigs in the portal (and HS too, so we donât keep facing this issue). Weâre already thin there â figuratively and literally! â and Lattimore and Lauterbach are seniors. The back court is already impressive, assuming no attrition and Brown bounces back.
Yeah, I hope they get Brown back, she was great. And sheâd probably be a surprisingly good 4 in an Armaan Franklin-kind of way, while also being another good secondary ball handler.
Good crowd. Nothing like last year (Iâm told, I was out of town), but at least 7-8k.
The announcer is right for bitching about that last foul on Mo. That was a ridiculous call⌠and since itâs her second, hugely impactful
It cannot be overstated how enormous 22 on Tech is. Greys is probably UVAâs second most physically imposing player, and sheâs like a small child trying to body their parent playing 22.
Sheâs listed at 6â5"⌠but they donât list weight. That is a Big Girl
Baker is 4-4 from three. Maybe we should get out and defend her.
Made the adjustment on Baker⌠so VT gets someone else open for three. Now 7-11 from distance⌠ugh
And 9-14 from two, and 7-7 from the line
Hokies shooting % is the story of the game
Plus, we had 7-8 TOs in that quarter alone. And weâre probably 3/8 on layups.
Weâre playing like hot crap, Tech is unconscious, and the reffing has been a moderate minus. Just disaster.
Tbh I felt like with Techâs big out, weâd win this one without too much stress. Shows what I know.
Is this our worst game of the season?
Itâs either this or BC.
