There were reports that Texas Tech had to pay Cincy like a one million dollar buyout for Sorsby. I assume any agent would want some buyout to sign a two year deal.
Now who can afford to pay Mensah more than the 4 mil heās already making AND a presumably close to 1 million buyout I dont know

Just because thereās money involved we should be mad that a star QB from a historically non football school is leaving to go for an opportunity at a historically good football school? Itās been happening for years I donāt see the problem with this one.

Timing is a major factor leaving now really screws over Duke.
In Wilsonās case Tommy O made it clear that Wilson was not his preferred QB and while he didnāt force Russ out he did open the door.

After announcing he was returning in a video and then portaling w/ 8 hours left and leaving his current team high and dry? I think thatās suboptimal.
It also seems pretty clear that there was tampering happening here too. Thatās mostly a Miami thing. But partly Mensah.

Iām just looking at it as if Duke put a buyout into his contract, and Miami pays the buyout, isnāt that kind of on Duke?
I was onboard with the Washington vs QB and the school winning because if youād signed and broken the contract you should be held accountable. But if thereās a buyout? Thatās on the contract writer lol.
People have changes of hearts. Teams swoop in and get guys they can get all the time from out of nowhere. Itās not great for Duke with the timing sure but when would great timing have been? Miami, Tennessee and Ole Miss are all still potentially looking for QBs I donāt think Duke was getting anyone over any of those for example.

I mean, donāt get me wrong. My heart is breaking for Duke. Iām so sad for them. Deeply concerned about their feelings and the impact this might have on their team and the wonderful student body and alums that make up that very special place. A brotherhood. Iām crushed for them. Deeply.

If Mensah has been strategizing this for a while ā āIāll lie in order to lock down Duke as a Plan B, while I search for my Plan Aā ā that would be sleazy. But I doubt thatās the case. I assume he fully intended to stay at Duke until this insane offer showed up. And I canāt blame him for taking it.
(In fact, had he turned down a $10MM Miami offer to stay at Duke, that would be extremely laudable for his loyalty. But also a little bit crazy. Even his Duke teammates would say āyou crazy broā.)

I would enjoy Mensah leaving Duke up shits creek a lot more if he wasnāt going to Miami. I wouldnāt put Miami in my same hate zone as Maryland and VPI, but my dog does piss on the TV whenever he hears that stupid motto āItās all about the U.ā My Duke disgust is more toward their basketball program which does less with much more than any program in the history of college basketball, and whose famous HOF former coach is a phony rat-faced lying vampire, but their football program is one I usually root against.
btw, Iāll be an Indiana fan in the National Championship game and I donāt give a flying shit about ACC pride, not when Miami is the rep.
