The deadline to enter the portal is midnight tonight. But there are lots of available QBs now ā and they can sign whenever. No deadline on that.
And itās not like Duke didnāt steal Mensah itself last year.
Allās fair at this point.
But another data point for the NCAA to clamp down on tampering.

All comes down to the terms of the contract and whether Mensah is abiding by them. Lots of speculation and grandstanding otherwise.

Whatās the difference between Miami paying Duke for Mensahās buyout and Miami paying Duke for Diazās buyout? Or us paying VCU for Odom?

Nothing if the contract has a buyout. But, if not, itās very different.

And if the contract is tightly written, Mensah will be in breach, youāll get what we saw at UW with Demond Williams, the school will push back and the player will back down.

I was thinking of the exact same analogy.
On3 reporting that Mensahās deal does not include a buyout. Wouldāve a little silly on his agentās end. But On3 has gotten things wrong before. Barstool report said there was a buyout but thatās not exactly the most reputable source

Sounds like thereās not a formal buyout but Duke does own his NIL rights for next year so would need to release him which they could theoretically request/receive payment for

Feeling good about the WR room now, which is nice after a couple weeks of uncertainty.
Weāll see whoās hurt when next season rolls around, but honestly the team feels solid and deep just about everywhere. Maybe another CB and DT for depth, and youād never say ānoā if the chance to get a P4-starter grade player almost anywhere fell into our lap, but thatās really it.
This might be the most complete UVA roster Iāve seen since moving back to town in 2010. Which coincided with the start of the Mike London era, so maybe its not the highest bar. But its still nice.
