Didnāt read it, donāt have a 247 sub, but got the gist that heās recruiting for the class. Point was to point out how good it is that Elliott and the staff have this kid so firmly locked up to hold off the Franklin mojo.
27 class continues its hot start
Thatās the fifth Top 20 in state commitment for the 27 class.
Itās also impressive in that Manchester kids never go to UVA, and I say that as a long time Dominion District watcher.
If youāre talking about football players specifically, the Dominion District hasnāt produced that many DI-A/DI FBS scholarship players over the years, besides Bird and Huguenot, has it?
In my HS days, it was Clover Hill, Midlo, Monocan, Manchester, Bird, Huguenot and Wythe. Huguenot sent some guys to Penn State, Michigan and UNC. Bird had guys go to VT and UVA. Wythe could barely field a team and the other 4 had some future I-AA and D3 players, but maybe only 0-2 scholarship DI-A level guys a year. Maybe thatās changed over the past few decades. I remember there was one big time VT recruit from CHHS well after my time, but I canāt recall his name or if he ever did anything notable in college.
Something else that changed were the schools, I looked up the current members, James River opened when I was a senior, so they didnāt have varsity teams then. They drew mostly from Midloās boundary I think. Cosby opened after my time, but I think they drew mostly from CHHSās old boundary. CHHS moved to a new building after my time. Manchester relocated to their new building while I was at CHHS and a bunch of my freshmen classmates changed schools for their sophomore years. When did Powhatan join the Dominion? And Richmond Arts is a renamed Wythe?
My cousinās HS boyfriend at Midlo ā Weegie Thompson. Played at FSU and then for the Pittsburgh Steelers!
Yeah he explicitly said heās not considering any other schools or taking other visits and Iooking forward to the future visits with UVA that he has scheduled. Again, things can change over time as schools will continue taking his temperature but not too concerned about him.
I am concerned about Sean Currie. Penn state appears to be making a hard push for him (and may have a better lax program than ours at the moment). Ohio State just offered him too. Iād put the odds of him sticking with UVA at 50/50 at best.
Weāre trying at least!
Which would be somewhat ironic if we kept all of our in-state recruits (with the greatest recruiter in the history of college football at our in-state rival) but lose our lone out-of-stater to the school the recruiting legend left and where an Iowa State guy resides.
The wrinkle with Currie (weāve never lost a commit whose name sounds like that before, right???) is that heās a dual sport athlete with lacrosse, and he committed to Lars Tiffany as well as to Elliott. So the question is how important is lacrosse when the football offers are coming from P2 royalty?
Tough decision for the kid.
Penn State lax isnāt too bad these days, unfortunately
@Miraclemaker11 can I ask why the Puke š¤®
emoji reactions to the two posts above about in-state commits for the 2027 class? Whatās Puke š¤®
worthy about either of them to you?
Edit: did not know typing āp u k eā automatically capitalizes it and throws the emoji next to it. Thanks, Jazz ![]()
Itāll be funny when we lose this recruitment because our Lax program isnāt better than Penn Stateās.
Oops! Sorry about that. I didnāt even read what the emoji meant. I thought it was a positive thing like āwe are overflowing with the Benjaminsā with these new commit. Good lesson there in paying attention!
2027 recruiting is a pleasant surprise
I saw TU tweet about Patrick Campbell from Dartmouth as well
He is likely to come, but the Mims tweet is for a hs kid
Probably this kid, Landon Hicks, a Manchester Junior WR with some good D1 offers even if he isnāt rated yet:
Visited VT over the weekend. You love to see it
