Edrine also has an extra year of eligibility left too

Oh dang, you’re right, he lost 2023 to injury, would have a waiver argument.

Agree, if some of those young guys leave that’s kind of what the portal is for. I don’t blame a guy for leaving if he has been recruiting over, or simply passed on the depth chart. That’s not a blanket statement because there’s levels to this. But I do get it in general and if the door is open they may as well walk through it.

Additionally I also trust the staff to fill in holes at WR without much issue they seem to be good at it.

This staff has been exceptionally good at retaining talent. If that continues into this offseason (and why wouldn’t it?) we should be very solid once again. Need to nail the QB position but the defense could be great.

Boley and Kam are wildcards. I would’ve said there was 100% chance of them going to the NFL a few weeks ago. Now with their injuries (we’ll see how bad Boley’s is) they may be more open to returning. Both will still get drafted, but the comparison will be around guaranteed money, as what they’d get in college might actually compare favorably.

He’s not in the Franklin QB mold whatsoever

Both might’ve declared, but I think the chances would’ve been low. There were almost no 3 year college players drafted after the 1st round last year and off-ball LBs are not an NFL priority position in the draft. No 1st rounders, 2 2nd rounders, 1 3rd rounder and a bunch of Day 3 picks. Kam would do better monetarily staying in college.

I’ve not read anything about Boley’s draft evaluations, but to my eye he doesn’t have the feet to play LT or the strength to play RT. If he’s a swing tackle or a guard, that’s probably a 6th or 7th at best and likely an NFL practice squad for a few years before making an active roster. Again, he could probably do better financially in college.

Given both injuries backgrounds I’d imagine NFL GM’s view them with major red flags.

Are we done flipping 2026s?

Best I could find for Kam was a late 3rd/early 4th projection pre-injury. He’s a bit undersized for the next level - maybe playing against the SEC or B10 lines would have dispelled some of that concern.

I do think Kam is an NFL player but definitely uphill now following the injury.

yeah never seen a Franklin QB pictured in motion

There probably won’t be much out there on Kam. Scouts don’t start focusing on lower profile 3rd year players until after the season. That’s how few of them are drafted. I’ll see if I can find a chart of 2025 NFL draftees in the 2022 college recruiting rankings.

We should make every effort to do right by him regardless, but the odds of him playing at all for anyone at any level next year are probably not great right?

As an avid fantasy football player over the past decade plus… ACL tears without other ligament damage often have players return as early as 9 months following injury. Sometimes it stretches longer, but often athletes back to full strength well less than a year. Fastest I ever saw was Adrien Peterson as a pro come back just over 6 months and tore up the NFL for almost 2K yards, but there was quote from the doctor about it looking like a newborns knee and AP was a freak.

all I’ve seen is Kam’s ACL tore, but dunno if we’d get greater info if there was more damage.

Truly depends on individual cases. RTP for NFL players with a torn ACL and no other damaged ligaments, tendons or meniscus is typically 8-12 months. Lots of guys return in that 9-10 month block. So he could be playing by early-mid next season.

Kam is about as on the cuff as you can get to play again next year on an NFL roster. @4547Lambeth is accurate on the timelines, but Kam will have the added difficulty of having to not only rehab but learn a new NFL scheme while rehabbing. That’s a lot to take on considering he likely won’t get pre-season or off-season reps.

Chances of it being only an ACL are unlikely. Typically there’s some other ligament damage.

Also AP was an absolute freak.

Anyone here still scarred by the “All in for Week 1?” campaign?

For those without that scar tissue, RG3 returned to practice after 7.5 months. This despite it being his 2nd ACL tear, as well as tearing his meniscus and LCL.
