šŸˆ 2025/26 Football Offseason Recruiting and Transfers

Possibly PSU bound but that place is a cult that somehow may think they should do better than Becht.

Only relevant for us because Becht (and his dad) were literally the first two people Speros followed this portal season. Presumably we’re taking a shot but odds are still probably <5%.

He did give them four seasons and presumably got a degree from there. He’s more a Cyclone that a ton of guys who played there even if he doesn’t finish there. Kind of like Brennan for us.

Yeah I’m with this… for me if you get a degree and move on it’s all fair.

Nah this thing of ours there’s only one way out.

We need soldiers like this young blood

That’s fair, I didn’t know any of that, just saw it on this thread and thought it was funny

Agents asking for this much for top QBs doesn’t mean they’re going to receive this much, but costs keep climbing and these are real cash outlays, not paper transactions like the athletic department paying the university for scholarship costs. At some point a school like ours can’t keep up with annual funding needs like this. The ā€œmulti million dollarā€ donation last winter was a program changer at the time, but now it’s a necessity every year just to keep up. We tease about VT unfunded athletic department budget increase, but we’re in the same position, we just didn’t make a big deal and announcement about a huge budget increase

The whole system is unstable. 95% of programs will be priced out or sick of it in the next decade if this continues.

What will be interesting is the bounce back market soon there will more sellers (qbs) than buyers (programs) do we one day see a situation similar to MLB where owners just cooperate to tamp down cost?

The NCAA has put into place the scholarship cap on football because teams like Texas and Oklahoma were abusing the system and to level the playing field. Seems possible that a salary cap, in whatever nomenclature or form, could be the next move. (Not the fake House caps and revenue sharing, which no one is abiding.)

Just go back to stipends and give % of jersey sales and stuff directly tied to players. People forget these dudes are still getting free gear, food, and education.

Yup a cap and limit transfers fixes like 90% of this limiting transfers to 1 and then sit or something of the like will fix a lot as well.

Agreed - one free transfer and then have to sit out a year after that and also pay a $10,000 transfer fee each time back to the school you leave - or simply 5% of whatever NIL you earned while there.

I’ve conceptualized compensatory buyout payments from Big schools to smaller schools based on conference affiliation when poaching a player from a lower level conference. UVA should do something nice for NCCU for J’Mari Taylor.

I could get behind that idea. These small schools should get something for being feeder programs.

Would love adding this guy. We have a lot to sell but think we need to prioritize more of a workhorse back

Don’t know much about him. Speed back, power back? Good receiver?

Was reading that and wondering the entire time when the ā€œI am not an insiderā€ disclaimer would be thrown in. He didn’t disappoint lol
