šŸ€ 2025-26 In-Season ACC Thread

That’s fair if you’re expecting us to win most of the rest of the way. I will say though a 2 game lead when they have the tiebreaker is really only a 1 game lead…

I’m still eying the ACC regular season win which means we’d have to pitch pretty close to a perfect game down the stretch anyways, UNC could have given us some breathing room though.

Staying in the 2-3 seed range I guess this does help us out a bit, but I sorta already had them penciled in losing to Duke at Cameron. Clemson, Louisville, and State are bigger threats imo and UNC still sees them all.

I’m now fully expecting him to return in time to play us in the quarterfinals of the ACCT.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t come back at all and holds out for the draft if he’s projected to be a top 5 pick

I think his agent/team will shut it down. He is top 3-5 pick? NBA teams will not care if he comes back. They have seen what they need.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he plays with a brace on missing only two or three games

I don’t think so. UNC reporters with sources inside the program are talking more like 4 weeks. Quite a bit of consternation regarding starting lineup and rotations.

Wow. Downfall of a once-proud program. :grimacing:

We ended that program in 2014, I guess

Seriously though, I remember the Boeheim - K matchup was hyped to the moon in 2014…

Boeheim hung on too long, but also, switching to the ACC has been disastrous for Cuse, Pitt, and BC hoops. Those were, respectively, great, very good, and solid programs. Now? None of them are even solid.

Conference expansion has always been dumb

Evan Miya with a numerical perspective on the Caleb Wilson injury.

No real way to know how good they are without him when they know he can’t be counted on or come back into a game, etc.
Sometimes a team for a game or two really goes all out and makes up for it

With Wilson it isn’t just what he directly contributes – which is obviously massive – but also the adjustments he commands from other teams’ game plans. UNC will have to make significant adjustments to how they play, and will put more pressure on a backcourt that is already suspect. Going to be interesting to see how it plays out.

Definitely an uphill battle for sure

I think we can all agree that having to play without your best player due to injury is going to be bad for a team. Bill Simmons has had many great takes, but Ewing Theory isn’t one of them.

More to EvanMiya’s tweet, he used a predictive model and removed Wilson’s predicted inputs. But, yeah, I guess it’s impossible to know :person_shrugging:

Who to pull for today? Duke or Clemson?

Duke win: we have a better chance of being the second seed in the ACCT.

Clemson win: Could be the conference champion if we win-out (figuring that our win over Duke would be the tie-breaker).

Clemson, mostly because I (sports) hate Duke.

But from a purely self-interested perspective, Clemson is much more likely to pick up other L’s than Duke. They still have Lville and @UNC, for example.

I’d argue it doesn’t really matter much because we’ll have to beat Duke either way to win the regular season title. Only way we can afford to lose to them is if they somehow pick up 3 more conference losses, which isn’t happening

Might age poorly but Clemson looks better than us right now

Clemson has been better the entirety of Acc play

Rooting for Clemson but I have to give credit to the Boozer family. Those guys play hard, don’t showboat and flex after every play, don’t do the stupid 3pt make antics, are team players with a lot of assists, play defense, and play smart. I completely respect their old-school character traits.
