Largely agree, but sometimes he makes the unnecessary extra pass (e.g. today when he had an open 4 foot floater but instead whipped it to the wing where it was stolen). On average, I think he could take 2-3 more shots and it would be helpful. But I agree with the original sentiment that he’s been a big net plus for us. Today, in particular, he was invaluable.

Yea in the KenPom coach rankings that we talked about earlier this week he’s top ten in the country.

Kyle Smith is and would be a great coach for most programs in the country, but your comment begs the question: should a coach of the year nominee get credit for the players he/she recruited? Where would Stanford be without Okorie? If the answer is ā€œyesā€ then it’s hard to overlook Sheyer (as much as it pains me to say that.)

I think the difference is Okorie was a sub-100 recruit and Boozer was top three.

So, Sheyer is a lesser coach because he went for the sure-thing, top 100 players like Evans, Boozer, etc. rather than gamble on a more unknown player?

The argument says:

On one side, recruiting is part of coaching and so a coach should get credit for recruiting well

On the other side, Scheyer doesn’t recruit, the Duke Brand recruits. Scheyer merely selects. Does he really get credit for getting top talent that was his to lose in the first place?

WOW! Will Autry be fired tomorrow? Pitt is putting it to Syracuse right now

And that’s what I’m getting to - their are no standards for any of these post season awards and, maybe, more so for coaching awards. Should a coach be disqualified from winning the award because he comes from a Blue Blood? Should UVA’s women’s swim coach be disqualified from coach of the year awards because we are the blue blood of women’s swimming and it’s easier to recruit here?

UNC getting to the rim pretty easily early. I think if Ngongba is out for the ACC Tournament that’s pretty significant (of course Duke would still be favored)

Not me switching from UNC-Duke to Ohio State’s blowout of Indiana. Raise those analytics for us Buckeyes!

FSU vs Duke in the quarters could be interesting

UNC shot better from the field, better from three, better from the free throw line.

Duke got their win but sounds like it cost them Foster for the season. How much do we think that impacts their title chances?

Oh now Scheyer saying not to expect Ngongba or Foster for the ACCT.

Could have a 2 seed in said tournament having their eyes get a little bigger…

Yep. Duke was way more efficient offensively against us, but I don’t think it was better defense by UNC. Also of note, UNC hit three 3-pt shots near the end of the game when Duke didn’t even contest.

But, onward for all of us. I didn’t hear, Foster is out for the tournament?
