šŸ€ 2025-26 In-Season Outside ACC/UVa Thread

Given whatever end-of-season efficiency ratings you want to use, I’d love to see the odds of Miami-Ohio having gone undefeated. If they had a 70% chance to win in each game, it would be ~0.002% for the 31-game parlay

And yet, based on resume, they should not get an at-large bid. Four wins over D2 opponents, didn’t play a P4 team, and didn’t play a single Q1 or Q2 opponent.

Nice they went undefeated, but auto bid only. They will lose in the first round of the tournament, and probably badly.

But it is a good story.

Miami might be in the bracket as an at-large in a WABsolutist system. #30 right now, and a tourney final loss to Akron would drop them maybe 5-8 spots, depending on what happens around them.

2 schools that pull from stuffy rich kids who think they are too good for the big state schools and too much of a bro for XU

J-Crew U vs. The Country Club Boys.

Neither appreciate LaRosa’s pizza

I think everyone except the city of Auburn, Alabama would rather watch Miami go against a high major in a 6/11 matchup than have to watch Auburn potentially lose a 16th or 17th game if they got in.

I get the Miami resume isn’t fantastic but hard to get Q1/Q2 games when high majors are ducking you on the schedule cause they know you’re good with a former high major coach.

Give me the what-if of ā€œcould Miami do damage if they get a shotā€ every time over a undeserving bubble team.

Yeah, I don’t even care if Miami-Ohio loses in the first round by 15 (which is the likely outcome), I still would like to see them get in and get their shot at somebody. Hopefully they win the conference tourney and remove all doubt, then finish the year 34-1.

I’m a full Miami OH stan after watching that game. Refs were dogging them. Crowd was nuts. They held it together just enough.

Yeah let em in. It’s an entertainment product, and they’ll be more entertaining than Auburn or whoever. Neither is making any noise to contend for the thing, so give the undefeated potential frauds the nod. I’m pretty sure they’ll lose first round, but it’ll be more watched and fun than that Auburn game would be I bet.

Also screw the Pearl family.

All of their resume metrics are safely within the tournament field. Invent your own computer model and get it approved by the NCAA if you’re mad about it. Until then they are getting in, and probably avoiding Dayton.

(Also they have played/won a Q2 game vs Akron)

I am not mad, but you appear to be. It’s an opinion, and I have no desire to make up a computer model. I honestly don’t give a shit what the commitee does with them, but they literally haven’t beat anyone at all. That’s it.

Edit: Wow. One Q2 win. I am so impressed. I think it’s awesome they went undefeated; very difficult, obviously. But let’s not pretend they wouldn’t have gotten smoked if they had played a remotely decent high-major team.

I don’t think that’s what literally means

2+2=5 is an opinion, too, I suppose.

Their resume metrics (what the team sheets lists as RES) are squarely tourney worthy. Their efficiency metrics are not. The modern trend is to favor the former.

For all the ā€œI sure am glad we didn’t hire Shakaā€ talk (and for the record I still am), this Marquette team has gotten way better over the course of the year. Granted they couldn’t have gotten worse.

Lmfao Hurley getting himself tossed arguing there should’ve been a jump ball when a jump ball would’ve been Maquette ball anyways. (Also now Marquette gets the ball back in addition to free throws)

Thank you for the grammar lesson. My education is in a real subject – math.

It’s kind of odd that you are so invested in this. All I said was that it is my OPINION that they should only make the tournament via auto bid. I’m not sure what the problem is with that.

Fwiw:

And fwiw, we had a whole convo about how they couldn’t get decent games a day or two ago
