Played and blew out a D-II in their preseason exhibition as well. Mox is afraid of competition.
I dunno, I have a long tradition of mostly only attending menās basketball games in which Iām 100% sure weāll win.
Iām sure Iāve told this story before, but I used to be acquaintances with one of the Assistant ADs and obviously weād talk a lot about how the various teams were doing. In early 2018, I was grousing about how the menās OT loss to VT was probably the most anxiety-producing sports event Iād ever watched in person (and Iād brought my younger daughter) which led to a conversation about which games weād watched in person (I went to a few, but not a ton, and knew the exact ones. He went to so many he could only pick out the oneās heād missed).
We quickly realized that while the teamās home winning % over the last few seasons was spectacular, we were somehow under .500 in the games Iād physically attended. Iād been to 7 home games in the prior 2 seasons and they went 3-4 because Iād somehow been present for 4 of the 5 home losses over that stretch (missed the Duke game, it was too expensive).
Anyway, he semi-joking asked me to stop attending home games and Iāve made an effort to mostly only go to games in which weāre massively favored since then. I havenāt completely stuck to that (in the ā22 Pitt game where we won on Gardnerās last second jumper that bounced off the rim 4 times before going in you can see my older daughter and I cheering in the ESPN highlight), but for the most part I appreciate having lots of buy games I can attend without being reproached by my superstitions.
Plus, its more fun and less stressful to watch us win comfortably. Iām ok with giving up peak excitement for a nice, pleasant experience.
Thatās kinda terrible.
In theory I agree, but in practice thatās not how it went last season. Hurd, who I love overall, went 3/19 from 3 in February last season to cap off a season of shooting 23% from 3. During the same stretch Clark, who I also love overall, went 4/15 from 3 to cap off a season of shooting 26% from 3.
The point being, there didnāt appear to be much of an effort to rein in the bad outside shooters as the season went on.
I never saw any 3PT discipline last year. It was raining bad threes all year.

It could always be worse.

What is the point if an OOC schedule like this? Sheās had several years to build a team and get her players in. Sheās now gotten some significant financial value. Sheās in a prove it season where she actually has to make the tournament and should be building fan support. So they put together an absolute trash OOC slate that sinks our strength of schedule and creates zero fan interest for the first month plus of the season?
And why on earth did we scrimmage a D2 school? What was the value in that?
I want Mox to succeed but am not feeling the vibes to start the season. Guess we just have to hope they kill it in conference play.
You need to keep track of your record like Dragon doing football picks. āI went 5-2 this season, which gets me back above .500 at 9-7 overallā¦ā
Me too, I went to the Morgan State game after all lol⦠but I am sitting here thinking, how many times do I want to watch that same game? I have season tickets but do I want to watch 8 of these blowouts? Would be nice if we had a Quad 2 mixed in there.
WBB has a wider talent range in general and more talent concentration at the top, so you get a bigger range on the team stats, and good teams can be really good while being unbalanced. For example, Texas basically never shoots 3s but they can bludgeon their way to a really good offense.

Hoping to take out some football frustrations on Bucknell. Torvik prediction is 83-50.
Score after 1 quarter;
Kymora: 14 points
The rest of UVA: 12
Bucknell: 6
UVA 1st half: 42 points
UVA 2nd half: 38
Bucknell full game: 35
(You have to play these little number games to keep things interesting.)
Not UVA but this is an absurd stat line to put up against another D1 team:

Those highlights were mostly right-handed lay-ups from the right of the paint⦠maybe make her dribble left?
16 steals is more impressive than even 44 points.
Yeah the steals are whatās absurd. Broke the single-game WBB record by 2.
In only 28 minutes. She must have been absolutely terrorizing them.
Her stat line was insane. 16 steals is next level
Down 8 at halftime to UMBC. Mo held scoreless and assist-less despite playing the entire half (or close to it).
Mo might be cursed. Had an open 3 rattle out after getting 60% of the way down.
