⚾ 2025 Baseball Offseason

Gracia was #1 so that’s it

We want to keep seeing UVa guys on that list. It means we’ve got a shot!

I think coach got the ones he really wants minus a few. I think he’s working on retention and scouting portal guys. @KarlHess @UVApride7 would be the guys with the most up to date info

I think Ford goes into the draft, but it’s worth noting he loves UVA. In HS, his family was super excited when he turned the corner and became good enough for UVA to recruit him. Plus, his family is all here, and his younger sister (one of his younger sisters? I forget how many siblings there are) is about to be a first year on the rowing team. She went to a ton of his games, they’re pretty close.

Point being, if he’s going into the draft, then that’s that. But after thinking about it, I guess it’s possible he just really hates Pollard or something, but I have trouble seeing him bounce to a slightly better college situation given all his ties to this area.

Word is the Ford is considering three SEC teams $$ - but he will be drafted. Remember the MLB draft is not an opt in or opt out thing. He can be drafted, not sign and return to college. He probably lost value this past season after an incredible first year. Does he bet on a super third year and improving his draft stock? Either way he is going to get paid.

Am I the only one who just can’t get enough Baseball information since BOC left? I really, really think the UVA baseball program will thrive with Pollard at the helm. My baseball background often left me scratching my head with BOC’s in-game management. MSU fans and their expectations will be much less forgiving and their expectations may be hard to manage. However, we were so blessed to have him leading our program. He obviously had a unique ability to build this program into what it is today and we should be forever grateful. When considering his comprehensive development of the UVA baseball program, it’s truly amazing!

What Z is hearing is what’s out there on Ford.

State, Texas, and Tenneessee are the three SEC teams allegedly under consideration. I believe he’s made visits to all three by now.

I’d be surprised if he’s anywhere but the professional ranks next season. Frankly, State being under considration surprises me some too but I’m sure they have a strong ass offer on the table.

Ford made a goodbye & thanks to UVA post on Instagram a few minutes ago.

Just go to the draft please lmao. I don’t want a hometown guy going somewhere else.

Think didawick comes back or is 100% gone?

I imagine he’ll at least commit somewhere else to use as leverage for draft negotiations.

I’m betting he reached a below slot pre-draft agreement with a team with a few extra comp picks. Maybe Baltimore.

Noah Yoder committed. We’ll see if he makes it to grounds.

That’s awesome news!!

That’s fantastic news. He was supposedly going to be an extremely hard sign when committed to Duke (as in hard to pull away from the college route).

Hope that remains the same here.

Duke hired Muscara. How do we feel about that?

Seems like a good hire for them?

Door is probably open for Didawick to return.

He’s playing in the MLB Draft League this summer. So he’s trying to pursue that route. He also made an IG post awhile ago that felt like a goodbye.

But his 2025 season was bad enough, plus his arm issue, that the bonus he gets via the draft might actually not be all that different between 2025 and 2026.

He’s playing well so far in the MLB Draft League though. Here’s a link to his profile if you want to follow his stats.

Good hire, Muscara is considered one of the best pitching coaches in the country and has been in direct correlation to the success Wake has had over the last five years. It’ll be a very stark contrast in facilities going from Wake to Duke, I’d imagine he’ll push hard for Duke’s AD to make significant strides in that area.

Will be interesting to see how many guys he’s able to salvage from the portal, and how much of his remaining recruiting class he can get to remain committed.

Gotta say, I’m really, really excited about the Pollard era. He nailed the press conference. And you just get the sense from the kids he’s bringing over that he’s going to be extremely successful attracting talent to Cville, possibly even more so than Oak. I’m looking at a lot of these kids that are now committing to UVA and wondering, why the heck didn’t we get them the first time around? Like Kyle Johnson is a legacy and grew up a UVA fan, why did it take a coaching change? Now a Central VA kid on Noah Yoder.

And we know he can win too. It’s crazy to say this but at the end of the day I almost feel like it could wind up being a good thing for us that Oak left when he did. Don’t get me wrong, I’d prefer Oak retire here because we know what he can and will do. But if he was unhappy, we’re probably in a better situation with Pollard, who appears to be a guy who would crawl to Cville for the job (like Odom), than dealing with contract renegotiations every year with Oak.

Saw from Kendall Rogers that Duke wanted to reduce coaching salaries from the Pollard staff and that eliminated LSU’s Jordan for them. That doesn’t exactly signal a great investment commitment from Duke. Also heard that was a big reason Pollard was so open to moving on. I don’t imagine they will be a major player in baseball absent new donor support.

Yeah saw that from the Duke board a couple minutes ago. Surprised they were even able to get Muscara if that’s the case.

Am not sure that Skirka from Murray State wouldn’t have been the better hire if the resources aren’t going to improve.
