Really hate this. I get why he’s doing it, but I hate it.
Shocked they got Muscara if that’s the case. He seems lined up for a pretty good job at some point? I feel like an SEC team would take a shot on him in the next year or two. Duke’s lack of resources could kinda torpedo his shot at a good HC job if they start contracting.
Yeah I’m curious to see what Muscara does with a much more limited program.
I’m also not fully understanding how the situation of scholarships unfolded… 25 seems like a kind of let down to me when it feels like there’s a rejuvenated excitement around the Pollard hire.
*25 with the option to go up. That option could also include more rev share for NIL. I think of it like the publicized $8M for MBB NIL. It’s going to be a different system moving forward but UVA has shown the flexibility to maximize talent when offered the financial opportunity. Not a disappointment at all in my view.
It’ll be a budget that is at the very least in the top third of the ACC. Not SEC level but will hopefully keep us competitive.
I do fear we’ll drop a level from being elite/elite to just a very good program, but you could make a valid argument that would have happened anyway with revenue sharing coming into effect. It’s about to become an unfair game in college baseball, if it wasn’t already.
I think the option to go up thing is what makes it weird to me… like what coach wouldn’t want it to go up every year? Haha. Idk I mean maybe it was more half truths than full truths to the Oak offers but I was thinking 30 would be the minimum now.
Which also if 30 (or anything over 25) is readily available year in year out why not just say that number out loud? I guess most common fans wouldn’t focus on something like that I just thought it seemed a little odd. but as long as coach and everyone else is happy with it let’s roll.
Maybe it’s dependent on donors and raising more money. 25 is still 14 more ships than last year which is about 1.1 mil.
And 5 more than the max Oak thought he was going to get to work with three months ago.
MAAC POY Joe Tiroly commits. Lineup looking pretty solid, just need some more arms.
First non-Duke portal commit for Pollard and it seems to be a really good one. The offensive numbers are gaudy, but what’s equally as impressive to me is he only made two errors all season at 2nd. Really nice two way player.
I do find this pickup interesting as I figured Noah Murray would be in line to start at 2nd, maybe he now moves to SS unless we get Becker back.
Good story on him from the Trentonian. (His mom better be moving to Cville too, if her cooking’s his secret weapon.)
Also forgot to mention this yesterday, the latest intel from Pete Nakos on Becker is that the race is currently between Texas, MSU, and returning to UVA.
One thing of note from the update was that apparently a sticking point in Becker’s decision will be his ability to continue playing shortstop. For those that kept up with the program this past season, we know that Becker’s play at short was very ugly at times but it does make sense for him to want to stay there as it would potentially help his draft stock.
Another Duke flip. RHP ranked 226th on Perfect Game.
Let’s hope we can offer enough to hold onto him….
He’s so much bigger than his brother. If Marcus had Jayden’s size, he’d win a Cy Young lol. I want Stroman to enroll badly but I can also see MLB scouts salivating over him.
I hope he does follow in the footsteps of his brother Marcus, aka he goes to college and ends up being an All-American by his third year.
I agree! However, as a switch-hitter, I hope he becomes an everyday player in the outfield and can provide an immediate impact.
“It sounds like Becker is down to Texas or returning to UVA. Should know his decision soon.”

Any update on blanco? @UVApride7 @KarlHess
