They were 1 game over a 500 record…

Well, the hosts are showing that RPI matters.

GT isn’t hosting because they’re in the 20s.

Alabama and Florida is the only top 16 teams not hosting. They’re 13 and 16. Oregon is 17, Southern Miss is 19.

We’re 63. We fucked around for a month and a half. We’ll see if we find out.

But if it was solely RPI that mattered then it would be the sole factor teams were judged on. That was basically the only thing Florida had going for them last season, that RPI liked them as the rest of their resume was extremely spotty. My argument is that if you gave a team like Missouri the exact same resume and results, they wouldn’t have made the tournament. Obviously credit to UF for proving their worth in the tourney and making a CWS run, but to me that doesn’t justify them making it in.

I do agree though that every year we seem to have a similar conversation about RPI maybe being less of a factor for the committee this time around, and it ends up still being pretty significant (again though not the only thing that matters). I don’t think it should be, because RPI is a very flawed metric, but if we’re going off the hosting decisions it’s not a great sign for us.

I will say Oak is right in saying if you leave UVA out that means you’re saying they had to beat FSU to get in. Doing so would’ve also won us the ACC. That’s how close we were in a conference that ended up with 3 hosts…

This team F’d around ALOT there’s no question but I still think they should be one of the last teams in. Whether the committee agrees or not we’ll see.

Two things hurt us — 3-8 vs top 35 teams. And we played no game against five ACC teams that are in the top 35 (UNC, Clemson, FSU*, Wake, Louisville).

18-team ACC + luck of the draw weren’t helpful schedule-wise this year.

But perhaps it’s a moot point if we take care of business vs. Michigan and OU, and don’t make critical mistakes in crunchtime in the rubber match vs NC State, in the hump game in Blacksburg, and in the ACCT vs BC.

D1’s final bracket projection has UVA as the 4th team listed in the first four out.

Miami, a team that we swept three weeks ago, is part of their last four in.

I really want the baseball time get to the post season. But if they don’t, there’s no one to blame except for themselves. They had loads of opportunities to get the job done.

It’s more than that hurting us. Lost twice, home and away, to a Liberty team that was 10-17 and finished 8th in Conference USA, lost at home to a Richmond team that finished 14-16 and 7th place in the Atlantic 10. Win any one of those and we’re probably in. Add 3 losses to a 28-29 (11-19 ACC) Boston College team and we have some ugly scars on our record.

It was a road series at FSU, so if you impute any result in that series, it’s probably 1-2. Would a single win and 2 losses at FSU even make our resume better? Even if so, that’s saying a single win is the difference between in and out of the tournament?

A little surprised at no UNC, would assume they get the #5 seed. But in case anyone was wondering what conference tends to dominate baseball…
