Yeah the main issue at least with us is we have too many extreme pull side hitters with average to below average speed this season. Probably not guys who have a lot of experience bunting, though I know Gracia has bunted for a base hit at least once or twice this year.
We go down in order again, seven straight retired for Cash.
4-0 Jax State heading bottom 4.
Next year I think the homers go down and the bunts and stolen base attempts go up, particularly if Enis and Edwards get more run.
I agree just based on our projected personnel. Hopefully Yow will be part of that as well.
Still gonna need a couple power bats in the middle of the order but there should be more tablesetters at the top and bottom.
Stewart works around a one out double to put up another zero. Two good frames from him.
4-0 Jax State heading into the 5th.
We work a two out walk but nothing else.
4-0 Jax State heading bottom 5.
Gamecocks get two on but no damage done. Three scoreless frames from Stewart.
Gracia robbed a potential two-run HR in RCF, ball looked like a lazy fly ball off the bat and just kept carrying.
4-0 Jax State heading into the 6th. Hopefully we’re able to see Cash a little better the third time through the order.
Wooden bats are to expensive to constantly replace for college teams. Metal BBCOR bats are to juiced at the college level in my opinion. Just legislate or make players hit with wood-composites… like a Baum bat. They are unbreakable and most/all of the high schoolers who play high level PG (Perfect Game) tourneys use Baum bats unless your Dad wants to spend $5k on bats for the summer.
Most high level PG tourneys are all “wood bat only”. I went through the progression of buying my son wooden bats until he broke two or three in one weekend and we went to the Baum bat. He’s had it for two years now.
Metal bats for these strong college guys is ridiculous, they are too big and strong now, especially if your son is a pitcher. It’s why the Cape Cod League uses wooden bats and wood-composites at their own cost.
Wood composites that don’t break should be the standard in college if cost is a concern (according to the father of a pitcher).
We get the first two on and then go down swinging three straight times. Frustrating.
4-0 Jax State heading bottom 6.
3 absolutely unacceptable at bats.
Lucarelli comes on in relief of Stewart.
It does seem like the BBCOR’s have been way too gamified over the past decade or so. Offenses weren’t putting up these numbers in 2015-2016 after the seams got lowered, it’s only been a semi-recent trend back towards the gorilla ball era of pre-2011.
The new BBCOR bats are evil. I killed an adult Elk in my backyard with one swing using a BBCOR bat.
Time to get some runs, Hoos!
Lucarelli allows the first two to reach but is able to get out of the jam unscathed. First year pitchers showing some grit.
4-0 Jax State heading into the 7th.
Those two walks that turned a two run homer into a four run homer feeling awfully pivotal right now
Grand slam was in an 0-2 count as well.
Well, at least we made some contact
By the way, what was the “automatic strike” on Harris a few innings ago? Pitch clock violation for a K?
gotten on base just seven times and two of them were Noah Murray lol
