Thanks. At itās simplest, itās like if Strength of Schedule and preseason FPI had a baby, definitely not without flaws but a fun experiment. Itās was a disaster the first year in the 2022 season, spoiler alert, we did not go 10-2 and win the ACC. But the last two years it got me within a win of UVAās record and did a decent job stacking up the projected finish. It does a good job of looking at the schedule before the season and identifying a ceiling and a floor, as well as teams that can feast on the bottom half of the league or teams that might field a below average roster but are going to get absolutely crushed because of who they play, like BC this year who likely wonāt be favored in any game but Maine.
This year Iād probably pick SMU head to head but every other game is at least a toss up. Wouldnāt be surprised to see us lose at FSU or VT, heck, last time we won in that cow pasture I was as old as my middle schooler is now.
I feel like anywhere from 11-1 to 6-6 is possible. I think SMU is going to be really good, but Iām not particularly high on FSU. Last yearās team was really talented but they quit very early. If they lose to SMU and Alabama I think thereās a good chance theyāre already one foot out the door and Iām going to be really surprised if Norvell still has a job in November.
If we win more than 8 I think our passing game really worked. I feel like thatās going to be the key. If we canāt throw the ball effectively then teams are just going to stack the box and weāre going to be Iowa. Love the potential on our defense and I think weāre going to be able to run the ball down lesser teamās throats. But to beat the better teams on our schedule weāre going to need to sling the ball around.
The staff proved a lot to me last year and my expectations are high. I think anything less than 8 is a big letdown.
I think it is weird that the VT beat writer has us ranked 25 and two other voters have VT ranked. Shows how dumb preseason rankings are because I donāt think either should be ranked yet.
I havenāt been super plugged in this off-season, but have we heard buzz about Isaiah Robinson? Iāve seen concerns re: our WRās, and he was one of the guys I expected to take a leap this year.
I think our wr will be āgoodā enough to win. Theyāll platoon 2-3 guys for Malik Washington #ās and twitty will replace edrine catches. Iām just ready for the pregame show of @JBHoo , @jazznutUVA , and @BDragon
