I don’t know if Close is realistic or even looking for a new job. Her recent comments seem more like she’s burnt out of coaching altogether in the current environment and saying she’s not as young as she used to be. On the other hand, UCLA’s top 6 players are seniors and she’d be starting over again if she sticks around.

FYI, this is not former UVA WBB great Monica Wright. It’s a different person who does a lot of commenting about WBB and politics. The GM of the Toronto WNBA franchise would not be tweeting publicly about the Mystics draft strategy if anyone needs any convincing.

FWIW As someone with both Kentucky asylum escapees and big Hokie WBB fans in the family, I don’t think the Brooks thing is crazy at all. He was my first thought.

They like him fine down there, but he hasn’t been what they hoped, and he isn’t all that happy. He used to speak openly about wanting the UVa job and never getting the call.

I wouldn’t call it likely, but it wouldn’t surprise me.
