2nd AAU live period

I like how for Julian Phillips Indiana offer his tweet includes a photo of Armaan Franklin. Destiny

Because Mack hasn’t done anything slimy? Or at least hasn’t been caught. And everyone who was part of the Pitino-Jurich era is gone.

Coach Dino was/is gonna spill the beans on recent stuff during his extortion case to save his own hide. Sure though, I’d bet Mack is clean as a whistle

Didn’t say he’s clean. I can’t prove anyone, even TB, is clean. Being 100% clean and being slimy are vastly different standards. At least imo. I don’t lump everyone who gets a speeding ticket in with people stealing cars. Certainly don’t expect recruits to lump Mack in with the Millers and Wades of the world.

So far the worst Gaudio allegation is that a GA was practicing. And low and behold now GAs are allowed to practice. Expecting any recruit or their family to care about that is wishful thinking. 99.9% of people are not puritans.

I think he’s going to answers those in the weekend write up that he’s probably working on. Hope his actual job, whatever it is, doesn’t get in the way of the real important stuff.

Ive now seen 3 highlight videos of this kid and every one starts off with defensive highlights first. 2023 prospect Bryce Cash that we’ve reached out to. Same High school as Akil Mitchell and Anthony Gill. No idea if he is a combo guard or a wing defender.

Traudt offered by Texas

Yeah Chris Beard was recruiting Traudt since last year at Texas Tech. And I think he was on Texas’ radar with Shaka Smart. He was going to get offers during this summer. I think as @HoozGotNext said, it’s about whether he lets them into his living room in the fall.

Sorry haven’t gotten around to doing a recap yet. I usually have them ready on Sunday night but 72 hours of streaming got to me this time. I was zonked. Will be done tonight, out by morning.

Most of the 2023 activity has been by assistants, essentially filtering through. We’re seeing just a few select get to Bennett. He’s spent probably 75% of his time in 2022 recruits.

They have staff meetings following each weekend. Discussing exactly that. Usually an offer or two trickle out from that each week. And then in the week or two following the final weekend there are more, as in that’s when the bulk come out. You can’t wait much longer than that. This is the last chance for coaches to see 2022 recruits. Once it’s over, the recruits start putting out final lists and planning their Fall visits. Very hard to get involved past mid-August in competitive recruitments.

Yes and no. The players they’re offering now, with the exception of Bond, are going to plan their visits from late Aug-Oct. You have to be involved now to get them later. With Traudt for example, they aren’t setting out to find anyone that would compete with him. But if they stumble on it, they’ll absolutely go for it. There was probably some of that going on this weekend with Alex Karaban. Won’t have anything to with Traudt other than him not saying yes yet. That’s just how Bennett rolls in July.

Take care of yourself. Your mental health is numero uno and I think I can make it to tomorrow without the recap but to be determined.

72 hours of watching contested threes is a lot on the mind and body

On the zero percent chance we were to get involved with Filipowski, we can move that to the negatives lol. Doesn’t seem like a Calipari type player but maybe this is part of the recruiting paradigm shifting

Do wonder if Michigan and UCLA also offer Traudt today. They were part of the OG lurkers in his recruitment and both have seen him now.

Also Rowan Brumbaugh blew up. I remember he was on our radar and there was even that “Rowan is a Virginia/Villanova type pg” tweet.

Thanks! Great answers. They [the answers] enable those of us following things from our armchairs to make better sense of the whole process. Helps to understand what has just happened, and also to inform our expectations of what is to come!

Ugh, this one actually gives me more anxiety than most of the others we’ve discussed. Beard is a good recruiter, Texas is a major brand, he can sell an exciting rebuild, and I’m guessing with all those transfers he just brought in who won’t be around as long as high school recruits, he’s got playing time to sell. Just hope they don’t go all-in.

If we’re going to catch the whale, we’re going to have to fish in deep waters. Ask any of the other coaches pursuing Traudt and I believe they would tell you that UVa is in the lead and that CTB is tough to recruit against when he goes all in on a player. Just have to stay that way :innocent:

However, the fact everyone if jumping in may indicate he hasn’t found his match yet. Something could be missing for him. I would keep recruiting him but you’ve got to be developing back up plans.

True! And I’m not actually stressed - good players you want get good offers and other interest. Just for some reason I see it as more feasible for Texas to land somebody like Traudt than MSU, for example. But we shall see. Still think he’s going to be a Hoo.

Who is the last player UVa had from Nebraska. Geography kinda worries me here as is obvious his family is close and involved

Sidenote I hope I am right that hes from Nebraska

If Ven-Lubin is more of a 4 you could recruit him as a Traudt alternative instead of the wing slot (Leon Bond). Also could pitch the package deal with his AAU teammate Ernest Udeh.

We’ll see if Alex Karaban gets a UVA offer. Also Chauncey Wiggins (whose on Caleb Foster’s team) and Dom Barlow (had a good game infront of Tony and got a few more offers this weekend). And Malik Reneau had a phenominal weekend as well with staff watching.

Julian Phillips I figure is going to be a luxury recruit if we offer who will play day one no matter the position lol.

Figured I would post the relevant 247 profiles. Of course everyone is familiar with Leon Bond and Isaac Traudt

And as many 247 writers themselves have even said, offers are more indicative than ranking in terms of how well a player has played at this stage with how out of wack rankings are due to covid.

Absolutely - keep recruiting but have a plan B and C and D. Don’t know that it means Traudt hasn’t found a match at UVa - it doesn’t coast anything and Traudt has shown himself open to visits, which to me is more of the due diligence. We’ll know soon if he gets tired of the recruiting - remember this is very different because these kids couldn’t do any of the normal stuff last year. As for Beard, and Few, and Izzo, you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.

Sure he’s from Nebraska - probably not too many of those ever in the ACC. But the stage for Nebraska basketball ain’t that big. Nebraska? Creighton? Kansas is probably the marque program for Traudt growing up.
