With NC State’s loss tonight, a UVA win tomorrow would lock up the ACCT double bye for all intents and purposes.

FSU goes down to clemson and no.2 Baylor losses to tcu

Im considering the FSU loss a good thing…Maybe we still have an outside chance of sharing a regular season championship…but it could be bad because I would rather have FSU win that honor than Duke.

Title changed to ACC and NCAA tournament seeding thread. No more bubble, and the ACCT double bye is already pocketed. Aiming higher now!

At this point we all know that if we win out and FSU drops one then we share the ACC regular season championship with FSU and Louisville. But regarding ACC seeding, in that scenario we would be the 2 seed due to the tiebreaker including record against teams in the three way tie. FSU would be the one seed (3-1 against UVA and Lville), we’d be the two seed (2-2 vs FSU and LVille), and Lville would be the three seed (1-3 vs FSU and UVA).

Relevant regarding who we’d play in the first round of the ACC tourney

But if Duke is included in the tie, then we could be the 1 seed. It would depend on the teams below us.

If anyone likes Sunday morning puzzles, here’s the seeding rules for the ACC Tournament

As best I understand, we need FSU to go in as a 3 seed to get a 1. It gets confusing because of how many tie breaks there are and how records within the seed glob plays out.

These may have been posted already, but a couple cool resources to look at how the ACC standings could unfold.

Conference Game Simulator (mred's ACC MBB Tournament Seeding Tiebreaker) - you can mess with how the remaining games unfold and then it populates the final ACC standings. The tie breakers are too confusing for me but I assume this site has it right.

Playoff Status (Virginia Cavaliers Basketball Standings) - shows our odds of each seed at present and under various contingencies.

As far as NCAA seeding goes, will be curious how much credence is given to the NET. Despite our win streak, our NET ranking has hardly moved in large part because our margin of victory has been so low. In this case, seems like we’ve let the computers take too much control.

  • We win out
  • FSU loses either to @ND or BC
  • Clemson beats Vatech and Gatech

Looks like the most likely way we could get a 1 seed. We have an easier path if FSU loses in South Bend where they have never won.

Down to 14 for the ACC Tournament. Georgia Tech dropped their appeal of this year’s ban.

How about a little blind resume action! I was looking through Lunardi’s projection today and thought, how can that team be seeded where they are!?!?! I went through and looked at two different teams wins and losses, adjusted for location, using the current KenPom ratings. Hint, one of the team’s is Virginia. Any guesses on who the other team is?

I’ve lost patience!

The blue bars are 9-seed Virginia (duh), and the orange bars are… 5-seed Colorado.

I don’t see a difference of 4-seed lines in those 2 teams. If you want to seed Colorado ahead of Virginia, fine, but 4-seed lines is absurd!

I’ve also looked at Texas Tech and St. Mary’s, both 8-seeds. Texas Tech’s losses look way better than Virginia’s, but 8 of their 10 wins are cupcake wins. St. Mary’s has no business being seeded ahead of Virginia. People who scream about giving St. Mary’s credit for winning at San Francisco or at home against Utah St. don’t give credit for winning at Wake Forest, which is a more difficult game.

With Clemson losing to Vatech, we need to win out and FSU to lose to ND
