Great point. Seton Hall is very good this year. The Big East overall is having their best year since the new version of it came together in my opinion.
Idk wasn’t there a year when they had three one seeds? I feel like that may have been their best year
Not since the realignment when they became the Catholic 10. I believe you’re going back to the Beast of the East days of Hoya Paranoia, Cuse, St. Johns. Etc, when it was first founded.
remember the SI edition with St Johns, GTown and Nova in Final Four 1985. Think Memphis State was the other team in.
Buy that man a beer for the Memphis State pull. I had to look that up for the final team in the bracket. The 1980’s the Big East was a murderers row. Some of the best and most interesting coaches to ever walk the sideline.
What do you guys think of Indiana.
Personally, especially with Utah State, I think they will have to beat a team considered better than them in the Big 10 tournament to go in. If they perform mediocre, I expect them to be one of the first four out with their mediocre wins.
Baskerville Homes one of greatest names ever. All those guys were from Memphis too
Same page there. I think Indiana not very good at all but enormous home court advantage. Amazed that Archie is the coach at that program
Agree on all those points. IU has a very pedestrian season going for itself. I think they need one big win maybe two in the tournament if they want to make the NCAA.
Archie is a guy who has just hung around and I’ve been waiting for him to have a breakthrough since his UD days and it just never seems to happen.
Yep! And not enough Quad 1 bubbles in general. 2018-19 Virginia played 15 Quad 1 games (12-3) before the NCAAT, 2017-18 played 13 Quad 1 games (12-1), this year’s team will play 10 at the most (currently 8).
My b I was thinking of the time when Villanova and Xavier both got one seeds
No worries. That was a stacked Big East, Nova took a 1 and X took a 2 seed. Was one of the last great X teams after a memorable run between Thad, Sean and Mack. For such a small school they put together a strong 10 -12 year run. Actually if they miss this year’s tournament it would be an end to an impressive streak.
I think the Quad 1 games is a number that’s so overlooked. When you break down the Hoos schedule they really missed out on with the lack of Quad 1 games they had.
Baskerville Holmes, hadnt heard that one in a while. Loved that name and love these stories. I remember well
The general Andre Turner, Keith Lee, William Bedford, Derrick Boyd. All Memphis guys
@DFresh11 Your rolling now. I remember well
ha. could do this all day
I’m sure. I for one truly enjoy it and remember these guys well. I’m sure most of your knowledge is firsthand but as a damn avid fan I watched closely. Thanks man
Keith Lee was a beast.
