šŸ€ ACC Basketball- 2025 offseason

So VT’s greatest to ever touch a basketball might actually NOT be the second coming of MJ. Who would have guessed it?

Again early vs Tennessee but Duke does not scare me. It’s Caleb foster and that’s it for guards

Man Nate Ament is skinny’. Kid didn’t gain a single pound over an entire summer?

So Cam Boozer. Looking like a problem

I didn’t watch, but looks like good defense/bad offense, albeit at fairly high tempo. Duke shot 33% on 2s.

1 assist for the ā€œPoint Guardā€

Also NCST beat South Carolina by 3 on a buzzer beater.

2, but I am picking on you. I will note that NC State played their starters, starter minutes; I don’t think there was a lot of lineup tinkering, though I didn’t see it, so maybe there was. Lastly, South Carolina is pre-season KenPom no. 86. I am not sure what to think of it all.

Arceneaux’s stat line:

21 min, 1-4 (0-1) from the field, 3 reb, 2 ast, 2 stl

Wouldn’t hate his wing defense but he’s a pretty bad offensive player

I am 100% aware of this…didn’t know how to spell his name, frankly. So, a ā€œgotchaā€ with no real point. Respectfully.

Doesn’t change my point at all.

Don’t think he was posting a gotcha. Just sharing guys stats who we were very closely connected to at one point

I am being sensitive. Hey! Like many women, I become too easily emotional at times. For some reason even a tangential allusion to Will Wade is irritating me these days.

I mean it was intended to be kind of a gotcha. I just never bought into those who were so adamant about:

  1. Arceneaux being our answer to start at the 4, which is what we needed when recruiting him.

  2. the notion that he was poised to take this massive leap forward. There was a lot of data out there on him already. If it didn’t click already, odds are it wasn’t going to, at least not to the degree that some on here were suggesting.

He’s a good player. I would’ve been happy to add him. But he’s a 20 mpg defensive/athletic specialist.

I totally agree, but also, that’s exactly what we need!

What this team really needs is a Ryan Dunn

If we knew we were getting Thijs I wonder if we could have made a better pitch to Arc to play the 3. He would actually be a perfect fit for how our roster ended up.

Based on what I know at this exact moment in time, a perfect hindsight roster would have been switching Sam Lewis for Arc. That would have gotten us the wing stopper traded for what, so far, looks to be not much on the offensive end.

Caveats:

*the timeline never would have worked out this way since we got Sam early and Arc’s recruiting timeline was later in the cycle

*this is based on two (2) exhibition games. Hoping that Sam can show us something soon.

Yep he will be a huge problem. Kid is probably the best big man they have had since that person who I will not even type his name.

My feeling on Arc:

  • He’s a perfect 20mpg defensive stopper / athletic wing
  • But if he were content with that role, he’d still be on Houston
  • So the team that took him had to take on the risk that he’s not a plus offensive contributor
  • If Wade can get the upside and manage the downside (meaning get 20mpg but not have him hurt the offense) then he’s a better roster manager than I give him credit for
  • If Arc becomes a positive offensive contributor then Wade is lucky or a good gambler or both (like all good gamblers)
