Lubin is at his third school and Brown is, well, going to have an adequate career in college.
In hindsight Iām pretty ok with us taking Leon. The staff took a gamble on him developing an outside shoot and the upside justifies it. It didnāt work out obviously but heās been a great teammate and advocate of the program. All the best to him
Point isā¦ we have 2 proven shooters in the 2022 class and one who is (now disproven) adequate based on high school tape. Taking on someone like Leon who we know is a long term project is more than justified. You just donāt pass on someone with upside like that, even if that sounds absurd given how things played out
I think my issue with Leon centers around two points:
Iām not sure how high his upside is given that he stopped growing. Like I know you can say well heād be awesome if he could shoot the ball at a high clip. But you can say that about a lot of players. The height part isnāt really on the staff but the second part is
If we did think that he had this great long term potential, then what was the plan to help him get there? It feels like he immediately became a tweener for us destined to fail
Did a little more digging on FSUās transfer target Justin Thomas, who may or may not be committed.
In a sign of how desperate Hamilton is, FSU would be this kidās 5th program in 5 years. Went DII as a freshman in NC, JUCO in TX as a sophomore, played at Milwaukee (Horizon League) as a junior where he averaged just 7 ppg and started less than half their games, went to UTSA as a 4th year where he didnāt even play last season, and in the Portal already again this offseason.
Iām not saying he canāt be a nice kid or a talented player, but that Hamilton needs to recruit a guy with this many question marks raises a ton of questions. The question on whether or not heās actually committed just has to be related to academics, youād think, as he was on campus this past week.
Yeah, this is my issue. I love Leon and honestly think he can do some damage in the right scheme. But I have no idea how we intended to use him. We redshirted him and then he came back from that yearā¦ with the exact same overall game he displayed in high school. Maybe thatās on Leon but from the outside I just have no clear idea what we told him to work on, what role he was meant to play, etc.
Anyway, hope he kills it on his new team. Iāll be pulling for him. Honestly Iām sad itās not like the old days and he isnāt still a Hoo. Would have loved him to be an alum even if he never was a star for us.
the intelligence community calls a photo like this evidence of āfull radicalization.ā With time, the right community, and an hefty infusion of all five pillars he can deradicalize, but he needs loved ones around him to intervene first (ideally his brothers Klaus, Kƶd, Kanvas, and KlĒngen).

Ty-Laur is a step down from Boopie, both as a shooter/scorer and potentially as a locker-room presence, but at least gives Wake a blue-chip option facilitator to pair with Preseason All-ACC SG Sallis. Monsanto is maybe addition by subtraction, and Hildreth is a nice 3rd starting guard offensively. Lets them work in Friederichson, Cosby, and Juke Harris off the bench.
They do need at least one of App State transfer Spillers or Iowa State transfer Biliew (Wakeās newest attempt at a former 5-star reclamation project) to emerge at the 4-spot. Efton Reid should be one of the leagueās better centers this year, but beyond him post depth is a concern.
Frankly this shapes up exactly like the last couple of Wake classes, good enough for a floor as a league-top-half club with an NIT finish, but enough question marks to make the NCAAT an uncertain proposition again.
Spillers from App State is very good. If he plays alongside Reid at the 4/5 spots, they will be a menace protecting the rim. But will give them nothing beyond the arc. Might be pretty tricky to configure a balanced shooting line up for Forbes this year, something heās benefitted from the past few seasons.
