ACC Basketball Thread 11/23

Do they even play defense? Seriously…not kidding.

Syracuse wins in a blow out over LSU. 2-0 ACC.

Missouri Pitt in a battle

Im going to say something that might come across as outlandish, and I hold no hate or ill will towards anyone with UVA…

Reed Sheppard as a first year blows Kyle Guy and Ty Jerome out the water. That is a confident kid. You can tell bball is in his blood. Gonna hurt watching Kon Knueppel next year too (hopefully at somewhere else if he decommits if Edgecombe commits).

Watching Kentucky vs. Miami game. It’s weird to see teams score “easy” baskets and play freely without the fear of making mistakes. Really weird. They even fast-break sometimes. Not sure I’m comfortable with this hanky-panky brand of basketball.

I feel like both teams should slow it down, run the shot clock down, and then take a shot that they could have taken 25 seconds earlier. Also, why are so many tall guys playing? Weird.

Not outlandish at all. I’m questioning whether Reed is a one and done at this point.

KK - we’ll see I still think he made an emotional (read “bad”) choice,

Sometimes teams loaded with young five star talent look really really good playing at home fairly early in the season.

Fair Hav, but still the defensive effort can be somewhat less than stellar.

Edit - ? Why you can’t have both, an attacking offense that relies on defensive toughness to make up for the “bad” offense from time to time.

Budget constraints

You guys know I’m kidding. Just love the freedom other teams have. And the joy that they play with. Wish we could get 10 more ppg by loosening the reins occasionally. Run a little. Take some quicker shots when the situation is right. Pound it down low once a semester. Not asking for an overhaul, just a tweak that I think would help us.

Perhaps if Miami slowed them down with a defense instead of trying to trade fast-paced baskets they woukd be in the game. Not going to win frenetic shootout against Kentucky.

Miami with all its freedom is shooting 26% from three-point, and has an assist-to-turnover ratio of -0.66. Not sure that I’d call that a “good” offense.

OTH, I always thought Miami was overrated this year - Wong was such a key piece.

Not jyst overrated, but VASTLY overrated. They hadn’t played anyone and not easy to replace a duo like Wong/Miller.

Then again, they are coming off a little elite 8/final 4 hot streak so maybe we residents of Tony’s glass house shouldn’t be too quick to throw rocks at a team that loses on the road to Kentucky

I’m old enough to remember when the end of blowouts were taken off the air for the start of the next game. When did that change?

I’m old enough to remember when the end of games that weren’t blowouts were taken off the air so they could show “Heidi.”

Probably with the advent of streaming.

I wonder how often Virginia fans over the past 15 years have wanted Tony to just tweak the offense a bit to play faster. I also wonder how well that has worked out.

IMO guys can play with joy whether fast or slow, right?

Switching to an episode of Below Deck during a blowout is fantastic. Perfect show to flip back and forth with during a lopsided hoop game. Don’t judge me. Also just took down a whole row of Oreos for no apparent reason. That’s it for tonight boys. Let’s see how we do tomorrow
